COVID Vaccine FYI

@GoldenTouch I‘m happy you’re in remission..Thats so sad about your friend’s husband. My thyroid was completely destroyed by radioactive iodine. It was supposed to only kill part if it. We think it totally destroyed it.. It’s probably a raisin... I got a little heart damage but I was able to maintain the function. I also had tumors, a goiter, etc. I also developed a thyroglossal duct cyst..I had to have a Sistrunk operation to have it removed. That wasn’t a piece of cake..My eyes are always feeling dry..but other than that..no bulging eyes or anything like that…I was diagnosed in my late thirties. I’m doing okay now…I can’t complain. I hope yours stays in remission.

Fingers crossed! I never want to feel like that again - EVER!
I was diagnosed after the birth of my child (mid 30’s as well). By the time I got a diagnosis I was 42kg. I fed her for 12 months & in hindsight should of stopped before I did. She was happy & cubby & I was thin & tired.

I hope it never comes back for you! Yes I could eat anything all day long and I couldn’t stay at a healthy weight. People thought I had an eating disorder or a terminal illness. I developed terrible anxiety which apparently is easy to happen because your heart is racing anyway,
My Thyroid have been normal for 40 yrs now. Believe it or not I was cure by an old fashion Chinese herb Dr. in HK. My Dr. here in the US suggested surgery since he had already prescribed me the medication for 1 yr and every time when he took me off the medication the disease returned.

I don’t know how you got through it with a newborn baby. TG you’re okay now.

@MamaBee and @Gussie thanks for the head’s up! Took my 83 year old mother for her booster yesterday! We were driving to a casino, lol and stopped by a CVS and made an appointment within the hour. I’m pretty sure we didn’t lie bc one of the indicators for qualifying has to be the medication that she takes—I forget what it’s called. Anyhow. No one Was there to get a shot so I figure that we aren’t really abusing or lying. In certain zip codes people are very reluctant To get the vaccine so there’s that. Mom is so happy to have gotten it bc I had told her that due to my potential exposure to hundreds of kids, I would prob have to limit my visits with her. So. Done. She got Pfizer again. Thanks ladies!

That’s great @nala! I’m happy for her!

S I wonder if folks that have auto immune diseases or organ transplants and take prednisone, Methotrexate, anti inflammatory and/ or other auto immune drugs may have suppressed the immune response to the shot? Do immunology doctors tell them to stop taking their meds before and after- if possible- getting the shot to let it work? What if these meds are resumed? Does that suppress the antibodies? It is so complicated.

@lambskin, I have a family member who had a transplant few years ago His doctors wanted him to get the vaccine. He just had his third shot and he didn’t say anything about his medicine being changed. He said the doctor said it was very important for him to get the third shot and to wear a mask.

@Gussie, I'm glad you were proactive and got the third shot.

For the record, my doctor feels that the evidence is that the proper antibody tests (blood from arm, sent off to the lab) which measure spike protein antibodies is a reliable indicator of immunity, although clearly not the whole picture.

We had ours done before travelling. I can't recall off the top of my head what the unit of measurement was, but apparently anything over 50 is satisfactory. For the record, I have Hashimoto's and mine was 250, my H has had both Covid and the vaccine and his were over 2000.

Stay well everyone.
