I haven't posted much of my stuff lately but I have had a few projects slowly working. First, I bought a little red spinel last fall at my local gem show. It has awesome color some inclusions and a very wonky cut. It is between 5-6mm. I set it in an 18k gold stuller bezel with a largish hand-made bail so that it goes over my omega necklace. It is on the pinkish side of red but the price wasn't too bad and it makes for a nice little spot of color. I will post a couple more pics of the inclusions...these don't harm this stone at all.

Sorry about the dust...macros pick up everything (and it needs a bit of cleaning, sorry!)!

Next is a stone from Barry that is getting set into a ring. Same stone, different lighting and background. This is an Ethiopian Welo Opal. This one really lights up in brighter light...and the photos don't do it justice. The color goes all the way through and I haven't seen a Welo opal that looks like this one yet. It almost looks artificial because the pinfire is distributed so evenly through the stone...and it has lots of different colors. I think it has a bit of pinkish rolling flash too...we'll see when it is set. It's going into an 18ct bezel mount on a chunky silver band. I had originally planned to put a different stone in to the ring...but this one turned out far better and was exactly the same dimensions, so we only had to adjust a little bit on the planning.

Next is a ring set with a pale greenish blue zircon from Dan Stair. It is set in rose gold. The band is from http://www.gabrielny.com/
We set the stone in a double "U" prong from the same company and mounted that onto the sizing section of the band. The color of the stone shows so much nicer in the rose gold and is darker in some lighting than others. I really like it a lot.

Couple more pics, looking more steely in the overcast lighting in my vehicle.

I love that blue zircon setting . . . so delicate. It works so well with the color of the stone. Congrats!

All your projects look great, Largosmom! I love the pendant-- great spot of color! The opal is amazing  ! I hate to admit it, but I'm a little envious of that one; I remember seeing it on Barry's site and being tempted but as usual, had other projects on the go! Glad that you're enjoying it and I'm looking forward to seeing it in your setting :)) . The zircon looks beautiful in that delicate setting!

Thank you fiery and baby nurse. I like the rose gold ring a lot..it's a lot more comfy to wear than I thought it would be. I was worried that the miligrain would be a bit rough. I think my goldsmith had fun getting that spinel bezeled evenly as that stone isn't even in any direction but it came out really nice for a little one. Got to post some pics of that grey spinel next!

The opal is blindingly beautiful! Wow. Love the zircon ring too, so fragile & feminine looking!

Love your new projects, but am especially impressed with the zircon ring. Its gorgeous!

whoa i love the zircon ring, the floraly design is perfect! and it looks really sturdy too! congrats!!

PENDANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :appl: :appl:

I really love that ring too!
That's the kind of setting I have in mind for a project of my own....
The Zircon is lovely in it!!!!!!

And the Opal is lovely, I have a small opal I like and it has lots
of colors like yours, but yours is prettier ! :cheeky:

The Gabriel & co web site has a "Bellisimo" collection that you can click on that takes you to their eternity rings and stackers...fun to play with as you can drag and stack all the rings to create your own stacks. I'd like to get a couple of their carved rose gold thin bands to stack with this ring. It is delicate and sturdy at the same time...which I think is helpful. My goldsmith had them do a custom head so that the rose gold would match. I love flipping through their catalog when I'm at my goldsmith's shop, lots of eye candy.

The spinel pendant is lovely! Has a great presence for its size.
That zircon is wonderful.

Thank you very much, JewelFreak, Treebean, Arcadian, Novel, ForteKitty, ooo~Shiney, and VapidLapid. Tons of credit go to the talented cutters and to my also-talented local goldsmith.

I am hoping to have the opal in its setting in the next day or two. I've been able to watch its progress over the past few days as he has created the bezels and rolled out the base, it's fun. The opal ring will be totally different than my normal style. It will have a double bezel in gold, set down into a chunky silver band. I generally go for things that are more delicate and florally as you can see.

Laura: they are all great, but the zircon ring is smashing and stole my heart!! Yippee! :appl: :appl: I love the steely color - that is not that common in a zircon - and it goes perfectly with the rose gold. Really beeyooteeful. As for the opal, it has so many personalities, its like Sybil!

Wow, I LOVE that zircon. I mean, they're all lovely, but that zircon is just WOW.

minouxbijoux and Clio...glad you like the zircon ring, I was worried about getting a pale stone but it is a real sparkler...Dan did a great job. I can see the culet through the prongs which I love too.
