Hi!

I tried doing a search in the old threads regarding calorie counting but i didnt come up with anything. I am starting to do a healthy diet and i just want to make sure i am eating right. For instance when i make a turkey sandwich, what are the calories for the turkey? is there a website that will help me estimate these calories in which are not listed on the package? Thanks!

I use sparkpeople.com. Free to sign up, and there is so much good information and support on that site!

thanks LegalGal... i will check it out.

i like dailyplate.com for finding calories in things, also they have a bunch of restaurants on there too with cals..but there is another one i can''t remember offhand. calorie-counter.com maybe.

you can just google ''calories in turkey breast'' and a bunch of sites pop up. eventually you will find one you like to use and use that for 99% of what you eat.

then eventually you will just KNOW how many cals is in something...or you find yourself reading labels all the time. now i am like a walking fount of calorie knowledge (not always appreciated by friends i am out with hahaha!!!)...but once you know it, you can''t forget it. def helpful for maintaining the weight you end up at once you lose whatever you want. good luck!!

Mara, you and I must have been posting at the same time (me in the WWT). Beanie I love the dailyplate as they give you nutrition info and info for grocery store products too like Trader Joe''s. Great minds Mara

There''s also fitday.com

Cron-O-Meter is great too as you get vitamins and minerals as well as the usual protein, carbs and fat. You can alter your nutritional targets and can enter basal temps, weight and there''s a space for comments. Exercise is coming in a later version.

Works on either p.c. or mac and you can have multiple users.

It uses the US nutitional database so the foods are generic rather than brand names, but data for these can be found from labels or other websites and entries created for foods, recipes etc.
