Could you help me find a good rock?

Hi everyone!

I've been doing some research online, and I'm ready to pull the trigger now... but since this is a big purchase, I had to get some input from the forum members.

I've settled on this ring from Brian Gavin:

And I'm thinking of getting something like this to go with it:

I'm looking for something in the 1.2 carat range, round cut, doesn't have to be from Brian Gavin... and I'm willing to spend ~10k for the rock. I'd like it to be eye clean (SI1?) and colourless to the eye, etc. I'm a best-bang-for-your-buck kinda guy...

I've read that the following specs are the ideal specs (quoted from redflagdeals post, by Charmypoo), although there are other combinations that work as well:
Total depths from the mid 60.x% range to the mid 62.x% range.
Crown angles from 34.0 degrees to 35.0 degrees.
Pavilion angles from 40.6 degrees to 41.0 degrees.
Table size from 54% to 58%
Lower girdles from 75% to 80% (although 85% are just fine too!)
Stars from 50% to 65%

I don't know if this is true, but I did use it as my guideline in my search. And I'd like to know what you guys think, and if you have any suggestions for me.

Those stats are good ones. But with BGD's Signature or Blue Line they are unnecessary. Brian is stricter than anyone on these boards with cut.

You are perfectly safe with ANY of their stones. I think your choices are just perfect. I adore the setting you chose and that stone is freaking amazing.


I think you have two perfect choices. I'd just pull the trigger and go for it.

I tried to find a better option at BGD for you, but I think you've found the best choice in this size/price range.
