I have no idea if I am posting in the right area or not...so, forgive me if I am wrong.

A couple days ago I noticed a "line" going around my diamond. Its a shadowy area between the top of the prongs and the bottom point. I never noticed it before, and I look at my ring all the time. It goes the whole way around, and to me is visible in all lights. My diamond is an irradiated blue.

Sorry for the picture quality, but I was trying to give an accurate photo of the shadowy line.

Do I need to worry?

It appears to be a girdle reflection, no worries! See these pics as hopefully they will give you some reassurance. This effect can be seen in many diamonds, and you are not the first to be concerned with it, even though you have owned the stone for some time, sometimes you don't notice these things right away.

These pics are courtesy of DiamondExpert Gary, and I think they are really useful for showing girdle reflection.

Your diamond cracked in half and it''s now considered an I3 stone.

Just kidding.

Definitely a girdle reflection, no question about it.

Yep. And it just reinforces my sentiment, that I''ve vocalized before. Every jeweler that hands over a setting with a round should explain what it is. It would save SO many poor people from freaking out.

That''s too funny :)

I have to say I really like the colour of that irradiated blue diamond - very pretty! I wouldn''t mind seeing a few more photos of it...
