Corundum Cushion impatience... Round in Tacori instead?

I''m still looking for an unheated pink to pink/red cushion shape corundum and I''m loosing patience (actually there is a nice pinkish red ruby that I found on Gemfix but they don''t ship to Australia so I''m back at square 1).

I''m considering a few round shapes from Wildfish (although I do prefer cushion or rectangular shapes).

Do you think a pink or violet round sapphire would look nice in this Tacori solitaire setting?

Here''s wildfish''s wild violet...

And, here''s the pink one...

I think a round would look great but I hate to think you''d settle for something because you can''t find a cushion. I would keep looking for a cushion if that is what you really want.

I'd keep looking. If you're interested in pink/purple sapphires, or rubies, I'd check out Odysseygem, Dutton's Diamonds, or Multicolour. They're the few sites that I can think of that have a fair amount of ruby, or pinkish tinged rubies available. Oh, and Gemrite has a gorgeous vivid pink Winza sapphire. You might ask John if he has more rough and would be able to cut you a cushion. I also believe Jeff White has some rough.

I do like the violet, but for that setting, I would choose a pink sapphire. I think it has a more classic feel to it altogether. For a violet sapphire, I would personally prefer a funkier setting, maybe a brushed metal modern-esque setting.

On cushions vs. rounds, it depends on what's most important to you: color, or shape. Or both, in which case it might be a bit of a wait, but it will make the moment you find "the one" that much sweeter.

ETA: I believe I made the same suggestions to you earlier. I apologize!

Thanks Marcyc and IndyLady,

Yeah... Maybe I would be compromising a bit (since I don''t think of myself as "into" rounds very much).

Yes, John a gemrite was kind enough to send me another picture of his vivid pink sapphire but I found it a bit pale in sunlight for some reason.

I will check out Multicolor and Dutton as I haven''t checked them out yet.

Thanks for the advice!!

I too think you should keep looking for what you really want.

If you''re not that into rounds you won''t enjoy wearing it as much as a cushion.

Don’t settle; you’ll be so much happier when you finally find what your heart desires. I’ve seen Gene of PrecisionGems cut some Winza rubies in the past so he might still have some rough material left.
