I just purchased a loose diamond and I now need to select a setting. I think I found one that I like. It is very similar to the Tiffany''s Lucida.

http://www.tiffany.com/expertise/diamond/rings/engagement_lucida_ring.asp?ring=lucida&

The diamond I got was a 2.01/G/VS1/Round.

The problem I have is that because of the prongs, I think that the diamond looks square in the setting rather than round. I went to Tiffany''s to see a comparable ring with a round stone in it, but unfortunately, the only type of stone that is in it is an octogan shape

I havent had it made yet, but I am a phone call away, and this one detail is bothering me. Do you think they can make the ring with this type of setting and stil make the diamond look round rather than square ?

Does anyone know of a similar type of setting ?

there are many people who think 4 prong heads on rounds do tend to make them look more square. Six prongs will make the center stone still look round. whoever''s doing your ring can probably make whatever type head you want.

Here''s a vatche ring at whiteflash

My fiance originally wanted the 4 prong on her 2.19 ct. She thought it would show more of the diamond. This was because she has seen other ones with very big prongs that can take away from the diamond itself. However i talked her into 6 prongs because:

1) with that size on a 4 prong, if one prong goes, the whole diamond could come out.
2) the prongs on the setting that i bought (Tiffany) were very small
3) it definitely can make it look square. Escpecially if it is a very low setting.

if you are definitely going to get this, i would recommend the highest setting within region. My friend has a 4 prong with very thick prongs and a low setting. I know that it is personal taste, but I really don''t like it at all.
