Advertised as 74-83 points, 6.2mm, VS1 and I/J. Any opinions?? I'd appreciate it. Below are a couple of the vendor's pictures (and, they're actually decent!!)

I have seen that one and the price is good, but the stone does not look good. Sorry! It looks very murky which could be inclusions or it could be a shallow stone with a bearded girdle or like that is reflecting around in the stone. You also cannot see the faceting well in the photos which makes me think they have been photoshopped a lot, since they are close enough that you should be able to see faceting -- the stone is probably much more tinted than it appears. The undertable area is particularly concerning to me, I think the stone is over shallow and not performing well under the table. At 6.2mm I would expect a ct. weight more like 0.95, so their lower estimate indeed suggests it is shallow. Sorry, not one I would buy personally.

It looks like there are inclusions under the table or a reflection of a bearded girdle (like Dreamer said). I wouldn't buy that one either. Perhaps if you gave us a budget, we can help you find a better one (Dreamer is particularly good at this)!

That's quite all right! You were just the one I was hoping would chime in, as I have been practically madly in love with each of your oec's (especially the one that is now your mom's). The color was what was making me a bit unsure, but the fact that I like the setting and it's close to my size already were making me wonder about taking a risk.

I was thinking about a purchase for slightly less than that amount, but would have stretched the budget for the right item. I was thinking either OEC, antique emerald cut, or antique oval. Would love to see any suggestions you may have!

I can't recall what the price was on that one, what i your desired budget?

The issue with that one for me, others might diagree! , is not color but cut, and the clarity is suspect.

And my mom's OEC thanks you ::)

I'd like to stay around $800, but as I said, willing to stretch it for the right piece. That one was listed at $975. And, I think I'd prefer to stick with emerald cut or oval, though I do love a good OEC too.

I appreciate the help! Every time I end up on a mission to find something, it takes me MONTHS to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't have any ECs on my saved list, but I might have some OECs. Let me see. I just bought one today so I am willing to let some go ;)) Not sure others will thank me since likely many have these on their lists.

OK I have one for you. If you are "here" I will post it :-)

That has been in my watch list too!
But I think Dreamer_D is right. For a 6.2mm diameter, the depth of 3.2mm is a tad too shallow and the photos look rather over-exposed to see the true color and clarity of the diamond.

I'm here!! Thanks :)

I'm a little iffy on the M, though I am thoroughly entertained by fluorescence. I'm comfortable with the clarity of both, in fact, it's as good or better than most of what I already have. WAY not thrilled with the setting of the other, but that just means I'll be able to recoup a bit of the cost selling the setting, since it's not a really vintage one. How do you feel about the appraisal for the non-gia one?I think the stone LOOKS good, which is more important to me than what a certificate says.

No. No. No. Bad.

You have to assume that any OEC you buy is likely to be K-L-M color anyways, whatever the "appraisals" say ;)) It helps for getting a feel for value of the stones to assume that, so you don't overestimate, and also it is just the most likely color because a) rough back then was mostly tinted and b) colorless/near colorless OECs were mostly bought and recut :blackeye: So, the GIA graded stone is likely pretty similar to the other anyways. A lab report also carries some value on the market, it is "safer" because you can very easily determine comps and determine fair market value. Helps for resale. OECs also face up whiter than RBs. I was sceptical of this, but my own OEC has convinced me. Anyways, I personally think an M color OEC would be pretty and have seen one in person. I would own one. THe other one is riskier becuase you don't really know its color or clarity. It is the "gumball option" ::) What will appear when you scrub it up? Maybe not an SI2 at all? Maybe an I1. Maybe H color, maybe M. Who knows?

The faceting on both looks really promising, though the M does not have enough photos to really tell. I like the faceting on the other one. The mount is scrap only IMO, not resale for use, so that's only about $50. That ring has been relisted a bunch of times and was previously listed for $950, so I would not pay asking ;)) I'd go in at $800.

Interesting development: The price on the ring was lowered by $125. I asked about measurements and how eye-clean it was, and the seller said it was almost 6mm across, and a little over 4mm tall. No eye visible inclusions; you need a loupe to see them, and even then they're minimal.

I would BIN that sucker, personally, if I had not already bought something and if the seller would ship to Canada. Does it have a return period? I cannot recall.

Yes, it does. 7 days.

I'm quite torn between that, and an oval I also found, though slightly smaller and cheaper. I'm thinking I'll make an offer, and see what happens.
