I do not like the proportions. It is not a great cut. some 3.5cts will look brighter.

Have you seen it?
I have never seen an eye clean SI2 over 3ct from any lab. (you did not tell us which lab graded this stone?)
and as size goes up so does the ability to be aware of lower colour.

Thanks Garry!

No, I have not seen it, yet. I will actually be seeing it next week when the seller brings it by.

I''''l let ya know how it goes, but sounds like the specs are off, right?

Yes - it will be rather leaky and has a small spread.
Compare it to 3.5ct diamonds.

Who said it was I SI2?

And if you can compare it to ClLEAN known I or similar colored diamonds in shaded daylight or close to a fluoro tube light.
Lokk through the sides - not face on for color grading.

Would you still describe it as a ‘great price’ if it were described as a K/I-1? If not, the source and accuracy of your grading is a hugely important topic. These grades are quite a bit closer together than most people think and the decision by the grader is not necessarily being made with your best interest at heart.

I have a 4.10 carat I SI2 stone that is perfectly eye clean. I do not remember the exact spread but the depth is about 60 and I believe it is around 10.43. You can see it under my name in Show Me the Ring.
I was reluctant about the color and was willing to spend more to go to a higher color but Brian at Whiteflash told me it was a high I and faced up more like a G or H. It is true that the stone you describe has a small spread for its size. Perhaps before you even consider this stone, you should look under similar stones in the 3.5 carat range and compare prices along these lines.
After reading the expert opinions, you should only consider it if the price is extremely low by comparison with stones of similar color and clarity and it looks nice to you which is the most important factor.

I think Neil is trying to say that this stone may have a questionable cert. We are very fortunate to have people on here who try to protect us.

I was curious to know whether you ever got to see this stone. Before I found Pricescope, I saw diamonds that looked good to me but learned that they had major problems by Pricescope standards. I wound up buying from a Pricescope vendor and got a great buy on a beautiful stone. However, I obviously am not that sensitive to color or other factors and might not know a fair diamond from a great one on my own
.
Most people are not educated as to what to look for in a diamond. If it is really an exceptionally low price and you like the look, it may be a good deal for you. If you do consider it, certainly have it appraised to make certain that it is what the person says it is and is well worth the price.

still wondring whether you ever got to see this stone. If so, is it really a bargain or an inferior stone t anot so great price?
