I am considering purchasing a diamond but am so confused about all the percentages, angles... measurements! (I do have the other three Cs down, though) Could you tell me if they look like it''s going to be a good stone?
here they are:

0.93 carats, VS2, F
Total Depth Percentage - 59.6%
Table Diameter Percentage - 60%
Crown Angle - 33.9
Pavilion Depth Percentage - 42.9
girdle - medium, faceted
cutlet - none
fluorescence - none

I''d really appreciate any opinions. Thank you!

hey lady godiva

welcome to ps!
you might want to read this article about 60/60 diamonds since this stone falls into that category.

It scores a 1.4 on the cut adviser, indicating that it may have a very good combination of angles, despite the 60/60 controversy. It will also look as big or bigger than a lot of one carats since the depth is on the lower side. It could be a very nice stone. How's the price? What kind of lab report does it come with?

PhoenixGirl, how did you pull out the cut adviser report? I pluggled in the values, but got an error message that either the data I am entering is wrong or the girdle is dangerously thin... hence the reason for my confusion, since the report says the girdle is medium...

lady godiva,
when you enter the numbers in the hca, make sure you change the pavilion to percentage (in the drop down) since you don''t have the angle. if you can get the pavilion angle though, use it. angles are more accurate than percentages here.

Ah, now it worked! Thank you!

To answer your question, this is a Tiffany diamond. I know most people here hate Tiffany''s, but I''d be willing to pay the premium price if the stone itself is good. Do yout think it''s worth it?

glad it worked for you

i think ''hate'' is a strong word. it''s just that many here know that you can find a superior cut stone for far less than tiff prices. if you ''need'' to have the tiffany name, and some do, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with paying the premium for it. for myself, i would rather get the best cut stone. i don''t need the name.
