WF only gives 5 stars to their ACA line. they give 4 stars to their ES automatically. Looks like a great stone.
The report is a DQR or diamond quality report - cheaper to obtain and does not come with a cut grade. Your IS image however speaks for itself.

thanks for the quick reply.

i did a quick search on dqr - i think i get the general point.

based on the sarin report of the diamond stats (this works out to a 1 in the HCA) + the idealscope - can i pretty much assume this is a great stone (in terms of cut)?

Definitely.

It looks like a beautiful stone!! The HCA is a tool to weed out bad performers.

hi skippy,

i am a definite novice at researching and choosing stones. i used the HCA on a previous almost-purchased stone...and the stone performed well (1.2 - 1.4 approx.) in the tool.

however, the diamond was slightly shallow (feedback from pricescopers as well as the appraiser)...

what''s the story with that? i know this is an online tool only, and there is nothing like looking at the stone, esp. thru'' idealscope/loop...etc!

Well it is a tool to weed out stones above a 2. Then you need to look at specs more carefully or you can post the info on the stone here so others can help.
That looks like a lovely stone, you posted!

I took a peek at your prior stone stats - it was a shallower stone looking at depth and angles. The HCA tends to favor shallower stones - that said, it is designed to ''weed out'' probable poor performers, not to actually select stones. It can tell you if a stone is worth investigating further, or moving on to the next when you are trying to sort through large #s of stones. The IS you have looks beautiful.

If it helps - plug the #s on your prior stone into the HCA. Look at where the X lands on the plot.
Now do it again with your current stone. See where the X is now. The X is smack dab in the middle of AGS ideal category and GIA Ex category (the white and green box outlines). Best of both worlds.

I agree it looks like a great diamond, no worries!

thanks for all the feedback. much appreciated.

i luv this forum!!!
