I was on here about a year and a half ago when I bought my fiance's e-ring (getting married in 3 months). Now my best man is shopping and I've been guiding him. He found a really beautiful setting and diamond together and I had him get a scan of the cert which I reviewed but am concerned about a few things on it.
1) The 13% crown seems kinda small to me,I've put this through the halloway cut advisor and light return, fire and scintillation are all Excellent but I'm generally used to a 14.5 - 15.5% crown
2) I'm mostly concerned about the Feather on the edge of the pavilion. From the cert it seems like the feather is rather large. I worry about two things with it.
a) If the feather will interfere with light that reflects off it
b) If the feather of that size presents a danger as far as cracking/chipping, especially since it's at the edge.
The fact that GIA graded it a VS2 leads me to believe that the feather doesn't jeapordize the integrity of the diamond since a severe feather would warrant a lower grade. I also understand it's difficult to really judge from just the cert but the vendor is on the other side of the country so it's all we really have to go by. Any comments are appreciated
