Concern about Tacori 2620

Hey guys, im brand new to PS, but have been searching the depths of the site for a few weeks now, and could not be more excited about all the information there is here! With that said, i still have a question or two that i havent yet been able to find the answer to.

My GF fell in love with the Tacori 2620 setting about a year ago when she first got to try it on. Problem is, that particular jeweler is now out of business and we just recently found another jeweler that is decently close to us, so we went this weekend and she tried it on again. This time however, she didnt seem to fall in love with it again. Her concern with the one she tried on was that the pave halo didnt seem to sparkle as much as the previous one she remembered. To be honest, it did seem kind of dull looking. I was wondering if the size of the center stone will affect the "pizzazz" of the halo? Could it have been that the stone that was in the ring was too large for that particular size setting and was covering up/over-hanging the halo enough to take away its brilliance? I want to say that the jeweler put that stone in there and that it wasnt set by Tacori, and i feel somewhat confident that Tacori would set any stone in the perfect sized setting for the best results. My reference on this site is "Mom2TwoGirls" ring, which is absolutely amazing! Im 100% sure that if Tacori set her ring and it matched the look of Mom2TwoGirls that my girlfriend would be absolutely blown away! I guess I am really just looking for some reassurance that the ring we saw this weekend is not typical of this setting. Any pictures or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I was going to mention lighting as well. Or perhaps the ring hasn''t been cleaned in awhile. The setting is quite popular and has probably been handled a lot. Are there other jewlers in the area that carries Tacori for you to compare?

its actually funny you both mentioned lighting because the the lighting in the store was actually pretty terrible, and they told us that it was. however, we did get to examine it under the "blue light" in the jewelry case, and it was still fairly dull. it really looked more like rough metal than diamonds. The center stone im buying is a 2ct F SI1, but the showpiece she checked out was a 1.5 CZ.

just something else i was wondering about, but would the metal (platinum or 18k white gold) make a big difference on how the halo looks?

I posted with a similar concern this past week. I had always LOVED the 2620, but when I tried it on, the halo wasn''t ''wowing" me. I almost couldn''t see the diamonds in the halo, although it does give off a little sparkle. I have tried on several different 2620s though and has the same experience, so I don''t think it has to do with the size of the diamond.

A few on the members here though reminded me of why I keep being drawn to this setting though - it''s delicate beauty and sparkle. In all reality the big halo is a BIG trend that will likely die and I feel this ring provides a nice balance of trend and classic style. It really showcases the diamond well, which IMO is the most important. Maybe remind your GF of this?

If not, they are willing to make a modification and bump the halo diamonds up from 1/2 pts to 1 pts for approx 1K. I opted not to do this however, being worried that the halo will get too big and detract from the beauty of the ring''s proportions.

I agree with Jennifer on this one! After trying on the 2620 RD LG last week, I was blown away. Even with the 2 ct CZ semi-mount, the stone and the diamonds in the setting looked just right to me. I used to think I loved the look of a big halo, but after seeing so many rings online and many in person, this setting gives you a slight halo, but so much more emphasis on the center stone, which i feel like can be lost in a larger halo. It really makes the center stone pop. I know this is the setting for me, but good luck with making your decision!

My fiance proposed with the Tacori 2620 in the end of September, and I'm still just as enamoured with it today as I was when I first tried it on back in February. It's delicate, the craftsmanship is amazing, and it's my dream ring come true!

I can't speak from experience about not being wowed by the 2620, however one thing that is important to note (that I'm not sure if another member has mentioned or not) is that Tacori makes each ring individually by hand to fit YOUR diamond. If you purchase a 2ct stone (and are purchasing the ring itself from a verified Tacori dealer), they will send your stone to California where the setting will be made to fit to your stone. That's one of the things so special about Tacori! So if you're worried about the halo being covered, it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, you mentioned the ring looking dull. The lifespan of a CZ is nothing like that of a diamond. With frequent handling in a jewellery store, oils from peoples hands or scratches can make a cz appear very dull. Maybe this was part of the reason you weren't getting the wow factor!

Unfortunately I don't have any nice pictures to share of my own ring, but as you had mentioned, Momwith2girls' ring is a true testament to the 2620. Another stunner is Emeraldlover's. Her's is the 2620 with an emerald-cut center stone (which almost made me change my mind from the round brilliant!).

Can you tell I love my ring? Lol!
