Concern about inclusions being eyeclean - Your opinion

I am consiidering buying the following rb diamond from JamesAllen for pricescope price of $4040. .9 on HCA

It must be eyeclean. My concern is that the feathers or inclusion are in the table. Ashley said she had two different people in her office look at it and they say it is eyeclean. I''m still concerned. Should I be or is this just a mind thing I need to get over? Here''s a picture of the diamond.

this is obviously magnified at least 10x (so may be eye clean when viewing with the naked eye) but I dont like the inclusions being so right smack in the center....

It looks like a beautiful stone!

It may very well be eye clean; it''s very difficult to tell from such an enlarged photo. Did the people who looked at it specify the distance they looked at it from? 3 inches? 8 inches? People may have different definitions of eye clean, so make sure it meets your standards. Also check on the return policy in case you find the inclusion with your eyes once you buy it!

Check with JA again and be very specific asking them if this diamond is eyeclean when eyeballing it up close and at all angles. Inclusions which are located away from the table on the face of the diamond can be camouflaged by the crown faceting more easily, but if you are as exact as possible when describing your expectations of ' eyecleanliness', hopefully this diamond will still be suitable for you. If not they may be able to suggest another, maybe VS clarity might be a better fit for you if you can't find SI which meets your expectations.

The feather that you see is transparent, and the crystal is small you can’t see it. Keep in mind how small this diamond really is! The image is much much larger than the diamond. "

I''m comfortable now and believe I''m getting a pretty good price for the quality and cut. I was concerned because my future son in law to be asked for my help in picking out the engagement ring for my daughter, a surprise. I''m extremely excited about marrying off my first one (three more to go) and don''t want to disappoint. There are several examples in which the general feeling of the diamond-industry contradicts with simple human observation.

The industry generally does not like inclusions in the center of the stone.

My experience in observation of various stones is that very often a central inclusion, though very apparent with a loupe, tends to be eye-clean. More so than in the case of a glets at the side of the stone.

My ring is an SI1 with the inclusion being off to one side of the table, and it is eyeclean. Even though I can see them through a loupe, it''s totally not possible to see with the naked eye. I was also concerned about an inclusion on the table (it''s white - I think it''s a cloud?) but it totally cannot be seen without a loupe.

The photo looks to be much larger than 10x, so since the bigger inclusion is colorless, and the paper is GIA, I am going to bet that it is eye cliean. However, that will depend on your eyes and how close up you can see, and it is liklely to be visible when seen from the pavilion side, which of course no one will see it from once it is set.

Negotiate with your vendor the right to return it if YOU can see the inclusion from the top. Seeing it from the bottom does not count in formal grading of the diamond, but some people do not want to be able to see an inclusion even from the side. If this is the case with you, then consider getting a stone of higher clarity.

I''ve bought from them three times, and twice I returned purchases. The first time I didn''t like the inclusions and the second time I preferred a diamond from a different vendor. It was always a perfectly smooth transaction--they were very nice and professional. I would not hesitate to buy from them again (and, in fact, didn''t hesitate).

Apparently this diamond has been verified completely eyeclean by the vendor, so they shouldn't be visible, and it appears dmus has decided to buy this diamond based on the vendor's advice and assurances.

If just knowing that the inclusions are there is troublesome, then for those folks VS or higher might be a better option.
