Hey everyone, my last ring purchase fell through at the last minute, but it worked out alright because the extra time turned out to be a good thing based on some unforeseen economic issues that popped up.

I'm not looking at purchasing this diamond and having it set but wanted to know what the value of this piece should be. Here are the characteristics on it.

The dimensions are 6.45 - 6.47 x 4.04 mm

Weight: 1.03 cts
Color: J
Clarity Grade: SI1
Cut Grade: Excellent

Finish
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent

Fluorescence: Very Strong Blue (this is the effect I wanted)

Any good opinions on the value of this diamond as well as any comments (good / bad) on the general characteristics of it?? Thank you all so much!

The best way to determine the stones value would be to enter the information into PS diamond search and compare the price of your stone to the others. A quick guess would be $5000-$5500, (if this is with a vendor, less than that if it's pre-owned)

SI1 - have you seen the stone? Is it eye clean to your eye and are you comfortable with whatever inclusions you CAN see?

The basic specs look good. If you have the table/depth %, you can use the HCA and put it in to see how it performs. That's just a guide, not meant to exclude diamonds, if you've seen it and love it.

Thanks for the tip on the HCA, this is the results I got:

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread Very Good

I have not seen the diamond yet in person but it can be ordered at which time the retailer will give me 30 days to return the diamond at no additional charge.

The price is less than $3,800 so it really seems like a pretty good deal as far as I can tell unless the inclusions are just hideous (at which point I would return it) -- the GIA report shows a small crystal in the left center and a very, very small needle in the lower left.

Tell us what the table, depth, crown angle, and pavilion angle are.

I have a stone with strong blue and love it, but you do have to be careful with very strong blue because it can cause some haziness in some diamonds.

I went ahead and purchased the ring from BlueNile. It is being being ordered and then set in the setting and then should be delivered 4/17. I will be sure to post pictures then. Plan on eyeballing it quite a bit and getting it looked at professionally to make sure everything is how it should be within the 30 day return policy.

Thanks again for all of the help!
