Not sure what information I need to provide here as I''m completely new to this, but just doing a quick search these were two that I found that looked good. Please let me know if you think that I can either get more for my money, or something similar at a better price point. Like I said this is my first crack at this and I just want to get moving in the right direction. In terms of setting, my girlfriend would like something very classic/plain. Not sure if that makes any difference when choosing the stone.

Second one might be ok but Idealscope is needed, to my eyes it looks as if the crown and pavilion angles are a bit more shallow due to angle rounding than as written. If you like this one ask the gemologist Julianna to inspect this diamond to see if it darkens at close scrutiny due to obstruction ( where your head shadow blocks light to the diamond).

Pass on the first diamond, it is not well cut. Also EGL are said to grade less strictly than GIA or AGS in some cases, read this page to learn more.

I like the JA stone better.

The USACerted stone is EGL Israel graded, noted for a lax color and clarity grading, you are probably buying a stone 1-2 grades lower thus the relative bargain price, the stone is also not that well cut, probably some leakage present.

I agree with Lor,

I like the diamond from jamesallen, but as stated, An Ideal Scope image is very important. Are you looking for size > quality? Or both great size and great quality? What''s your budget like?

Check out the ACA WhiteFlash diamonds at www.whiteflash.com

I am currently in the process of purchasing my first E-ring from them and they have been extremely helpful, reliable, and quite a fun experience.

Also, JamesAllen was helpful when I wanted to look at some of their diamonds. They sent me an IS image, and from the image i saw that it just wasn''t the cut quality that I wanted, however I do believe they are a very reputable source around here as well.

P.S. my girlfriend said she was a plain/traditional ring as well.. so i went with this setting. Maybe the setting will inspire you?

sorry about the link not working, you have to copy and paste till someone teaches me how to link properly lol

Good luck, take your time in this process.. you will learn a lot!

Thanks guys. I do like that setting, all of the straightforward platinum band settings seem to be what I''m looking for. In terms of budget, I''m willing to go as high as $30k, but would obviously like to get the most bang for my buck. Since the setting is going to be relatively straightforward I''m thinking the vast majority of the price is going to come from the diamond.

What about this one:http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1151316.htm

Are there specific Depth/Table/Crown Angles I should look for in terms of ranges?

I don''t know how to fix links.. but i checked out that diamond and i like that one a lot! the IS seems dam close to perfect to me! Lets get some more opinions on that diamond!

Any reason why I shouldn''t look at these two instead? I feel like you''re really paying up for G vs H and VS2 vs SI1.....or is cut that much more important

bgarvey, if you still have this one under consideration you will need to contact Whiteflash directly for further information.
