Below are two stones that are essentially equal ( cut, clarity, color ). Why does the 2.345 cost more than the 2.4 ? What makes the 2.345 better than the 2.4 to warrant the price discrepancy?

Thanks!

My guess is that the less expensive stone was priced in June and the more expensive stone was priced in September (looking at the certs). I suppose there could be other factors like one may be a high I or VS2 as compared to the other, but it may simply be that prices on that size stone have risen since June and they didn't raise the price on the earlier cut stone. Seems like a good deal to me! But I'd ask them to be sure!

As usual, Diamondseeker is right on the money. The pricing on large goods has seen a few increases this year, and it appears the less expensive stone was priced according to the then-current pricing.

Very interesting! That was not the answer I was expecting. I was hoping an expert was going to point out a subtle nuance difference between the two.

So, are there any other differences that would indicate one is a better e-ring stone than the other?

No, not at all. All ACA''s meet very strict qualifications for cut quality. So it would be a complete toss up in 99% of cases. In this case, the stones are almost identical and one is a couple thousand dollars less, so this is a no-brainer! Of course, I''d certainly ask for them to look at the two stones and assure me that both are equally eye-clean, etc. But ACA''s are all top cut quality and AGS0, so you''d be hard pressed to say one was better than another.
