First, I want to say how much I greatly appreciate all the knowledge I've gain from this forum over last few months. I've come to realize that when shopping for ovals, just like women, a good one is hard to find. But I think I've got a good one.

While researching, I found that I liked the fluorescent effect but I wasn't sure she would. So I thought I would buy 2, let her choose which one she wants, and send the other back.

She wanted an oval, so based off what I read here and from the GOG videos I focused on a 1.5 ct, >G color, >S1, very good cut, minimal bowtie, depth 56-64, table 53-63, L/w 1.38-1.48. Ultimately, I would have liked to see ASETs prior to purchasing but I decided to go with Ritani because of their 150% upgrade policy which seemed better than most.

So I purchased the 2 below:

She likes the diamond with fluorescence better. We do not see any hazy or milky appearance, just a slight blue hue in the daylight. I just have one question, would you agree that the diamond with fluorescence has a minimal bowtie effect?

It actually phosphorences slightly as well, super cool. Looking to get the VC Emilya Halo setting next month.

Awesome, congrats on finding The One for The One

That's great that you were able to purchase both and compare them with her in-person, that's most definitely the best way to ensure she loves the stone!

The bowtie is a function of pavilion facet structure - see Garry's posts in this thread (ignore the title and ensuing drama):

I think your stone looks beautiful in your photos; I do see the bowtie but I don't find it offensive in the least. It's the result of the pavilion mains "obstructing" - reflecting what is directly in front of them, which in this case is shadowed face. Obstruction is what creates those black arrows you often see in face-up pics of RBs on here. Please post photos once it's been set - ovals are beautiful in VC's Emilya

I love the one with fluorescence.

oh oh someone finally found out florescence is a good thing... :boohoo:

For those interested, I got an aset for the diamond with fluorescence. Overall nice strong red across the middle. I'd say average leakage throughout. Would have like to see more red in the tips, but you're never going to find a perfect oval aset.

I'm happy with the aset. And this is all academic because she loves the stone in person.
