Hi there
I''ve been offered two stones by one of the excellent PS vendors. At this point I only have the GIA certs but no images.
Sorry I don''t know how to link or post the certs & can only give the cert #''s.

I''m trying to run the cut advisor but not sure which numbers on the profile represent the depth and table. Is the table the top number directly in the middle?

I''ve read that a med blue flour. could be desirable with a lower color grade. Would this be the case with stone #1?

I realize #2 is an I1 and will have issues but diagram shows a lot of clouds or crystals directly in the middle of the table - would this be a deal killer?

I''m sure the sales person (who has been great) will send me images & discuss specifics but I''d like to know if their are any other specific questions I should ask.
If anyone can offer opinions on these two diamonds it would be appreciated - thanks in advance!

First diamond needs to be checked for possible obstruction due to the slightly shallow pavilion angle, ask for an Idealscope image.

Second one has potential, again an IS image would be very useful, check also both are eyeclean and especially with the I1.

EDT: Well, since we all three had the same idea, I'll delete my links to the reports

As the others, I'd check for obstruction on the first and eye-clean on both, especially the second.

HI
Attached is the ideal scope picture of the first stone. does this look good?

This is the asset image. Any thoughts?

Yes, it can be seen in the images that this diamond shows obstruction, this is visible darkening when viewed closeup due to the viewer's head shadow blocking the light to the diamond. These diamonds are normally better suited for pendants rather than rings as pendant stones aren't viewed in the same way.

nope, not good, will probably have obstruction issue.

thanks for the quick replies. I''m not expecting perfection given the loose stone budget of ~ 5k, but from the sound of it I should probably keep looking.
So this darkening would be very noticeable to the naked eye and would just not sparkle like a better stone?

Depends on how good your eye-sight is. IS/ASET''s contrast angle range is set to model a person viewing at 14 inches away from the stone, so if you view it at that distance or closer, your head will probably block out the light source that stone is returning to your eyes making it look dark, if you are viewing from further away, probably not that much problem.

thanks S.C. & Lorelie for taking your time to help educate me & help me make a decision we''ll be happy with for years to come.

It will sparkle in most viewing conditions, where it will lose it a bit is when the wearer bends over the stone or holds it close to the body to admire it.
