Compare AGS to IGI??

So at work (mall store....), I have constantly been hearing the worst things about AGS. Every time the lab is mentioned, I see cringed faces. Today, I mentioned how beautiful Peerless diamonds are and my coworker goes on about how an AGS ideal could never be good enough to make GIA EX and how AGS is a horrible lab because GIA grades based on the worst facet and AGS grades on facet averages. She also compared it to IGI and EGL and said it is too a soft lab... I had to hold my tongue and just sat there and smiled. Then she goes "your stone isn''t GIA, is it?" I tell her that it''s actually an ags000 and it''s beautiful. She then asked me what color/clarity my stone is (J I1), raised eyebrows, and goes on to bash on AGS some more!

Another time, we were all closing the store and talking about color. Both of the people I worked with mentioned that J''s were yellow. Oh no, that''s not insulting to me (and to all the beautiful J''s I''ve seen on pricescope!)... And to prove their point, they take out three non-certified Js, each a different intensity of yellow and say "see?". When I said "These are ''j'' according to who??", they tried explaining to me that all master sets are the same as GIA''s and Js are the same everywhere no matter who grades (even though there are eye visible variations)

Oh, and one time my manager quizzed me and asked what I should look for in a cert to see if a diamond is cut well. I mentioned crown and pavilion angles and he said those were irrelevant and that you determine a good cut with only table and depth.

Can someone please explain to me where these people get this information??? I''m just so frustrated.

Sorry for ranting, I just had to get this off my chest and my friends irl probably wouldn''t get it. Lol.

Ugh, yeah, hence why so many of us here on PS vent frustration over many misinformed sellers.

Unfortunely, guess you just gotta go along with it if you want to keep your job! lol

ETA - what kind of diamond jewelery do your co-workers wear?

Wow, that is rough! Sounds like they were not trained very well or by someone who has an agenda to push their own items. When we picked our my diamond we compared them side by side and we picked out the AGSO as the best diamond and at the time we didn''t know which was which. Do they even have any AGSO there to sell?

I''m going along with it for a little while longer. I actually think I''m going to quit lol. I can''t take those types of things any longer and get treated like an idiot on top of it all just because I have been poorly trained.

One lady has big diamonds but that doesn''t mean much, quality wise. And the other people get diamonds from there. We don''t have any AGS stones, but we do have some nice gia triple ex stones. Not many though.
