Hi everyone,
I am looking for opinions/advice from the all the expert that visit this form. I am getting ready to propose to my girlfriend. I've been looking at diamonds but to be honest I exactly know what is the best. I've done my education/been educated but nothing compares to years worth of experience.
My budget for the center stone was 12k-13k. The GIA report number for the diamond I've committed to is 7178309580.
Carat: 1.7
Color: I
Clarity: SI2
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.71 - 7.76 x 4.67 mm
Depth: 60.4%
Table: 58%
Crown Angle: 34 degrees
Pavilion Angle: 40.6 degrees
Cutlet: None
Also I am looking at 18k white gold (X1) for the setting. I've been told that this is whiter/shinier than platinum and that it is more durable since platinum scratches and dents too easily? Is this true or should I go with platinum?
I really do appreciate all the help/suggestions in advance. What do you think a stone like this would be worth? Thanks everyone.
