I browse Etsy from time to time and stumbled across this *information* which is disturbing because the seller has made over 4,000 sales.
the seller sells *coloured diamonds* some for over $1,000 AUD in silver.
These nuggets of knowledge are in the description.
what are coloured diamonds?
These are genuine Colored diamonds found naturally in mines mainly from Brazil. They are more porous than White Diamonds and are found in the upper layers of ground relative to White diamonds that are mined deep. Some scientists are of the opinion that their origin may be a Meteor that impacted earth Billions of years ago
.... it gets better....
What is their nature?
Coloured diamonds are not in the state they are sold. They are made from earth mined rough rock found in mines of Brazil. The rock colour varies from Light Blue, Dark Blue, Champagne, Pink, Green etc.
What is the treatment process?
To bring out its true colours it needs to be treated. The process is a natural one employing gentle heat in a high pressure environment (HPHT) which gradually brings out the true colour of the diamond
... wait for it.... my favourite bit...
Does it alter the composition?
The process may or may not alter the composition. It remains a true diamond nevertheless. Once our diamonds are heat treated, it may move the molecules. This causes them to not always test properly with a hand tester. If a hand tester is used, sometimes they test as diamonds and sometimes they test as Moissanite.
But they are genuine earth mined diamonds, not Moissanite.
If you use a jewellers loupe you can see this by their molecular composition.
A Moissanite will lose its shine and wither away in a short period whereas a diamond will remain forever.
My Jeweler says these are not diamonds?
These diamonds are rare and hence opinion may be varied from person to person. Further a jeweler would not like to lose a customer to online rather than his store.

Good grief, they should give people their “diamonds” just for reading all that crap!

Yikes. So many people have been jibbed.

My favorite part ...

Could you write in to ask more about the molecules that have been moved? And if they have a specific loupe they recommend to view this molecular motion?

I guess the molecules have moved so much they’ve transfutzed into moissy. Well, darnit, they’re still diamonds at heart.

Now, now, the molecules may or may not have moved from the gentle heating of the coloured rough rocks that are porous and found near the surface in Brazilian mines.
oh, I forgot to add
that the diamonds can be boiled, put in acid or apply a sandpaper to them!
wow.
plus
All our diamonds come with a certificate of Authenticity. Various labs have different testing methods which give different results thus we will be unable to accept different results.
your certificate Madam....476BBB86-1253-4463-8877-4563A86337C1.jpeg

If I wanted to operate my business where they don't speak my native language you can be sure I'd have someone very fluent in that language checking everything I published.

Blatant fraud really shouldn’t be amusing, but this thread is hilarious! In all seriousness though, Etsy need to sort this out.
