Hi Ladies,

I was wondering are there ladies on this forum who wear coloured contacts who have dark brown eyes to change the colour....If you do what brand and colour do you wear? I am looking into getting them (I am a current clear contact wearer) and was wondering what people are wearing. I was looking for somethign bolder not just enhancing.... Thanks in advance :)

*Bump* Anyone help?

I think it depends on your Rx. My contacts are + a certain amount, not - a certain number.

I prefer daily disposables, as I work with children and don''t want to deal with disinfecting them.

Anyway, colors are not available in + Rx daily lenses.
That means I can only wear clear.

Also, my eyes are light. I think if you browse the mfr. websites, you will find there are not as many colors for dark eyes.

Contact your local place you get your lenses from. I did, and they ordered me lots of samples for free when I wanted to compare brands for comfort.

I have dark brown eyes and tried the green Acuvue Oasis ones (since I use the clear ones of that brand the rest of the time and love them). I would recommend testing out a pair first - when I had them, every time I would blink the colored part would move in front of my retina and blur my vision. On both eyes. I loathed them! They didn''t change my color too much, either, they ended up looking hazel even though I chose the most obvious green they had.

I used to wear green contacts (though my eyes are blue). I got alot of complements on them but they just arn''t as confortable as clear contacts, they don''t seem to last very long and I often had the problem of the coloured part moving over my eye and bluring my vision.

I''ve resently given up on contacts all together as my eyes just arn''t tollerating them well at the moment and invested in new glasses instead.

hi, I''ve got brown eyes and have tried green, blue and gray contacts. the blue are the most obvious that they are fake as they are not light blue, but people said they were cool. the green and gray is more naturaly. I don''t know the brand, I can check tonight...

however, keep this in mind: the contact has the iris coloring and then a clear middle for your pupil.
at night or when it''s dark inside, your own pupils become larger to let more light in, and your pupil could get bigger than the clear part they leave in the middle of the lens. the iris color of the lens, then prevents more light coming in.

to make a long explanation short, I found it difficult to see through colored lenses at night or at parties/clubs where it''s dark. I would definitely not drive with them on at night!

they are also not as comfortable as normal lenses, and therefore I can only wear them for about 4-5 hours.

I wear the freshlooks colorblend contacts. I have them in all the colors, but my favorite would be the amethyst, brown and grey, in that order.
I like them because I can''t feel them on my eyes, I never feel dry and they look realistic, IMO.

I have been wearing colored contacts since the 90''s. I am blind without contacts (-600 both eyes), so I really need to wear something and though I have glasses, I hate not being able to see peripherally and that the lenses on my glasses are so thick, even though I paid for the extra thin ones. I guess my prescription is so high there is only so much they can do.lol.

Years ago my eye doctor gave me a free trial pair of nearly every color that FreshLook makes. I had blue, hazel, green, gray, amethyst, turquoise, etc. My eyes are naturally VERY dark brown. They were fun to play around with (and cost me nothing), but the look was not natural at all. Some people said they were cool looking, but most said they were pretty weird. My boyfriend at the time hated when I wore them. The gray contacts were probably the least fake looking, but you could still tell it wasn't my natural eye color. Compared to my regular clear contacts (Biomedics) I found them incredibly uncomfortable, and ditto what MonkeyPie said about the colored part moving every time you blink.

Its very possible color contacts have improved since I tried them. Perhaps see if the brand you currently use offers colored contacts and ask your doctor for a trial pair.

I have brown/green eyes... they are golden brown around the pupil, but green closer the the outher part... but because I have a dark ring, and big pupils, they appear brown-hazel. I tried the acuvue colored ones, and like monkey pie stated, the colored part would move, they felt... stickier - than my clear pair, and I HATED THEM. Plus they hardly made a difference with color.

I didnt get to try any free pairs.. so I literally had a box for each eye... and you know what... I ended up tossing them... after a year of non wear. I had a friend who wore the gray freshlook w/ DARK brown natural eyes... they didn''t look as creepy - as the other colors like Inanna says.

Another girlfriend has beautiful blue eyes, the prettiest NATURAL eye color in the world, and she could get away with purple, teal, etc...and she never had a problem with it.

Hope this helps!

FreshLook Colorblends would offer the most natural look for dark eyes, but most contacts will still look fakey on that dark of an eye. The FreshLooks come in a few different varieties, you''d have to try to see if they''d work. Most eye doctors have lots of samples in the office to play with. If the FreshLooks don''t fit well, there are some other lines, but I don''t know that they''d give you enough of a change to warrant the expense. Again, just go in and try some on. Have fun!

i have dark brown eyes and in high school + college i wore the freshlook colorblend contacts. i loved them. i have a pretty strong prescription + dark eyes and i think at the time this was the only brand i could get in colored contacts. at the time, i also found them not to be as comfy as clear ones, but i loved having the color change so i wore them anyway. they may have approved since then though.

Hi Ladies
