Quick question, I just wanted to know what everyone''s thought was on diamond color when matched up with either white gold or platinum. Back when I started looking at e-rings the saleswoman suggested to get either G or H because I will start to look yellowish against the wg/p. Is this somewhat true or was this just a marketing scheme?

I''m going with an H because personally from a side view I noticed a slight color differnce with an I and a very big difference with a J on her white gold. Not that much of a difference face up though.

I have a J colored center stone set in platinum with F-G side stones. They are all ideal cut and I cannot see a discernable difference...

I just picked up my ring the other day, it''s a I color princess cut set in platinum and I can''t see any color in it. The surrounding stones are G/H color. It''s a very well cut diamond so it faces up very white.

I had an I that didn''t show any color in white gold. I had it recut, and it''s now an H, so it must be pretty much on the border, but I never did see any tint to it. Lots of people have Js and there are also some gorgeous Ks in white gold and platinum. I wouldn''t think twice about an I.
