So I have heard two contrasting theories about low-color diamonds (for example, I or J)
Theory 1: The diamond "takes on" the color of the band in which it is set. In other words, place the diamond in a platinum or white gold setting, and it will face up whiter than putting it in a yellow gold setting
Theory 2: Use contrast to your advantage. Place the diamond in a yellow gold setting and it will seem quite white by comparison to the gold. Place the same diamond in a white gold/platinum setting and it will appear more yellow in comparison to the white metal around it.
Which theory do you guys agree with more? Thanks!
