Hi All,

This is my first post and I am thrilled to have found Pricescope. I am going to have my emerald cut diamond reset into a three stone ring with two EC sidestones in 18k white gold or platinum. My question is: what color and clarity stones would look best with an E/VS1 center stone? While my center stone is not large at .65, it is a very clear, white stone and I do not want the sidestones to detract from the center stone. I have seen some semi-mounts that have G-H/SI1 stones but I am unsure as to whether or not they would look right with my center stone. I also do not want to spend a fortune on the remount.

I welcome any advice or comments you could share with this "newbie".

For ECs, I would not want to go below VS2. Colorwise, I would prefer F or better with an E center, though I would consider G possibly.

I would be fine with an H. I would look for F G H myself.

In round stones I find that smaller stones look WHITER ... so, say, you could pair "H" with "E" ... but I don''t think that emeralds work the same way.

"F" would be safe ... "G" only if you see it in different lights to be sure ... no on "H". IMHO.

(Though I will say that I love my "H" color Asscher on it''s OWN -- it seems like a big color jump next to "E" -- when you''ll be comparing all the time)

That makes sense that round stones would look whiter due to the brilliance factor. My EC is currently set in platinum with two .33 trillions that are G color. When the ring is clean, I don''t notice the color difference but sometimes in certain lights, I can see a faint hint of color in the sidestones. Most days it doesn''t bother me. The trillions are nice stones but I think they are too busy next to my EC. I originally wanted a three stone EC ring so I am going to go ahead and get what I really love instead of wearing something I like.

I would welcome any comments on the clarity of the sidestones as well. Also, can anyone suggest online vendors? I found a mounting at Facets however, it would have to be custom made for my center stone. The one shown online is for a one carat center stone.

Sorry I agree with the H is out with an E center... did not see that. FG for me too. F probably.
