Colombian Emerald- dimensions vs ct weight?

I am considering a Colombian Emerald with dimensions 8.5 mm x 6.0mm x 4.5 mm and it is 3.4 ct. It looks like a well cut stone but don't these dimensions seem small for an almost 3.5 ct stone? I thought they usually face up larger than diamonds and it does not seem particularly deep. Experts?

You are right to be suspect - those dimensions should be an emerald of under 2 cts, in the 1.6 to 1.8 ct range. Definitely not 3.4 cts.

I only have dealer photos... will see stones myself later this week. It just seemed weird because got pic of another stone that is smaller at 2.97 ct and dimensions 10x7x 4.4mm . i will see that stone too.

Is 4.5 mm seem very deep for face?

4.5 mm depth is shallow, not deep for that particular emerald. Does the emerald come with any paperwork? Both stones are too heavy for their listed dimensions, the first more so than the second.

They are getting certs now so will see than before any purchase. Strange that ct weight not lining up with dimensions. Is that dealer error or something funky with cut of stones?

Could you share where you have seen them? That may provide clues as to whether they are in fact emeralds or something else.

Either the mm or the weight is wrong on that emerald. A 3.4 emerald should have bigger dimensions. those are dimensions of a like 1.6 stone. Is there a side picture?

Ok... finally got cert and dealer texted me the wrong info.

the stone in picture is 3.35 ct and dimensions are 9.39 x 8.30 x 6.15mm

That makes more sense, right?

I was going to post my own pics when I see this stone and a few others for comparison later this week. i have a new friend who is a partner in a mine in Colombia and they are his stones.
