O.K. So I started out my search this morning by googling The Shane Company for engagement rings and threads from here were the second on the list. So I looked at the entries and am beginning to wonder if purchasing on-line is a better option. However, after spending an hour on this website I am still a little confused. Should I just go to the vendor page and pick one. I should probably go into a store and look at what I want for sure and then find it on-line right? I just need some direction and some options for on-line stores. I have never bought anything on-line and am wary of it but if it will save me a couple grand I''m all for it. Please help.

What are you looking for?

Have you gone into a Brick & Mortar and tried anything on yet?
I suggest you go in and try on many shapes and styles of ring and see what sings to you.
From there, narrow in on the color and clarity you want. (Some like icy white & some like antique white, you have to see for yourself what your preferences are.)

Buying online is one of the best decisions we've made. We got *SO* much more ring for our money! And it out sparkles all of my friend's rings!

welcome to ps!
take some more time and have a look around. there is tons of useful information here. your best bet would be to use the ''pricescope your diamond'' search tool and select ''cut quality search'' or ''in house'' you will come up with a list of the best diamonds available from reputable vendors.
good luck and have fun!

Or just stay there.

There is significant savings on the diamonds online. The settings are not as discounted. So you can pick a diamond online and either have it set by that vendor or have it set locally (or elsewhere). You mainly need to decide what specifications you want in a diamond. Most here would encourage you to look for ideal/excellent cut. There is a ton of information on this site under Knowledge, and also Good Old Gold has a great tutorial with pictures called the 4 C''s.
