I know cloud, feather, crystal, etc all refer to inclusions But are some worse than others? Would any of these be a deal breaker when it comes to Emerald cut diamonds?

Thanks!

Good question - all depends on how extensive and what type of inclusion you have.

In a step cut stone like and emerald cut, the inclusions are easier to spot than in a brilliant cut diamond (that goes for color also).

Extensive clouds, which detemine the clarity grade at VS2 and above, can produce a light return problem. Cleavages (diamond has 4 planes of cleavage) can also be a problem if extensive, near the girdle or corner and if they reach the surface.

This is why examination of the stone is all important, and should be taken on a case-by-case basis.
