I have narrowed down my search and was looking for a little help with my final decision. She thinks size is the most important thing then clarity. She is not very color sensitive so a J color diamond would be acceptable. All the diamonds have been confirmed as being eye clean. How important is the HCA score or should I focus more on the Ideal Scope. I should be getting those in the next few days.

Diamond 1 – HCA 2.0

Diamond 2 – HCA 2.2

Diamond 3 – HCA 5.0

Here is the setting I am choosing.

I am leaning toward diamond 2 but part of me wants to go with the diamond 3 because it is bigger than the other 2. Any suggestions would be helpful.

It will be hard to say with idealscopes....seems like you'll be getting those soon, but you can also ask JA staff what they think.

I'll just comment on your interest in Diamond 3 for its size. Carat weight does not always translate to bigger visual size.

Even though diamond 3 is heavier in carat weight, it doesn't translate to looking bigger after you've set the diamond. If you notice the diameter -- it's 6.65 and 6.70. Not particularly large for a diamond of that weight. That's because the weight is in the girdle (thick to very thick) and below (64% depth). All of that translates to only a "good" cut. It scores poorly on HCA for multiple reasons. One of them is poor spread (small diameter for weight).

Diamond 2 is an ideal cut. Despite being lower in weight than Diamond 3, it has a diameter approaching Diamond 3 (6.53 and 6.58).

I'd cross #3 off the list.
