Hi everyone,

I am close to making a purchase, what I would like is a 2.0 CT ring, I would like this set in platinum, "Classic Tiffany" setting.

I would like this to be a round ideal cut diamond, I would like the diamond to be "clean to the eye" so I''m think SI1 and up?

I am not sure if "Hearts and Arrows" is critical but it seems to warrant a premium so if with the balance of the four C''s for my budget maybe this would be good to have?

Color I guess "I" and up, maybe with some Florescence?

My total budget is $20,000

I have read a lot on here and I think learnt a lot, however I am still very much a novice, so I am looking for diamond reccomendations. I think I have a decent idea of what to look for but am hoping to get help from the experts on this forum to steer me in the right direction. Appreciate any suggestions and guidance you can provdide.

Treller.

Thanks, as this is below my budget, what would you improve to get aound the $20K level, Clarity or Color?

Treller,

2 years ago I was in search of a new diamond for my wife for our 25th. I started with the local jewelry stores. I ended up at pricescope since my choice in the stores were limited. I also had a budget limit of $15K. I ended up purchasing from Union Diamond. I got a 1.8?? VS2, I, Round Ideal ( GIA Excellent Cut, Excellent Symmetry) for well below the $15K. I selected 3 potential diamonds. I was concerned about the I color on the largest stone of the group. Tony R. of Union contacted their supplier an got feed back on the color and clarity of the 3 stones I selected. Tony recommended the larger stone which was a little less $$ than the others. I had it appraised locally and was very very happy with the results. My wife is still thrilled today about her diamond.

I am currently on pricescope to looking to upgrade the setting for our 27th.

Good Luck to you.

I see this only got 4 Stars on the WF rating (not sure if this means anything), would I be better to increase Clarity, my budget is $20,000. I would like as clean as I can get fro the money.

Thanks
Trevor.

If you are set on the size, I think you should go up in color as long as the stone is eye clean. [note: personally, I would go up in size

ETA I am not sure which Tiffany-like setting you are considering, but this is my favorite! Oops, can't attach a pic. I'll make another post.

Only WF''s branded A Cut Above hearts and arrows get 5 stars. If you prefer higher clarity then thats fine, you would need to ask if the one above is eyeclean anyway and meets your expectations, not all SI clarities of that size will be eyeclean. WF would be able to tell you.

Here you go. I LOVE this setting! It is from Whiteflash.
ETA Oops, way big, sorry!

Well we did the size thiing and my GF has a ring size of 5.5, we think some of the larger diamonds can get a bit obnoixious, my GF is not crazy into bling so we think a 2.0 Ct would be about right, so I want to get the best I can for my $20,000 budget.

The style you posted is exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks.

Hello Treller...Welcome to PS.

Just replying to your last post...

F SI 2.03 has potential with the angle combination, ask for the idealscope image and also as if it is eyeclean and if the very thin girdle is an issue

H vs2 2.18 does not have good potential bc of 41.6 pavillion angle, I would pass on that one

H VS2 2.01 has potential, again ask for the idealscope image

Also, I love both WF stones...also have you seen excel's tiffany setting? I think it is very nice!

Thank Brean, are the WF ones you refer to the ones suggested by Stonecold?

Just checking out Excels settings.

Yes, the one''s Stonecold mentioned.

Here is a link to the Excel Tiffany Setting.

Thanks Breann, this is the style I like although, I would prefer the band to be less bevelled, I know this is how the tiffany classis is but it almost looks uncomfortbale to me.

I am still looking for my diamond, any other suggestions welcome?

Thanks
Trevor.
