I think if you''re looking for a fancy colored stone, then radiant is the way to go (like the ones you posted - those are all radiants). This is because radiants are known for showing color more than other cuts, so that''s why they''re used more often for fancy diamonds.

I posted this in your other thread, but you''re really going to have a tough time finding a fancy colored diamond of any size with your budget. Would you consider a non-diamond stone, like a light aquamarine?

If you''d rather stick with a blue diamond and would be OK with getting an irradiated one, there''s a website I just found that sells nice looking ones. They''re located in the UK too, so you wouldn''t have to deal with taxes...:

Not sure if you like the style, but
this one has a color that''s a little fainter than the others.

There are also other colored diamond pages. I have no idea about this site''s reputation; just pointing it out as a possible source of heat-treated colored diamonds within the UK.

Added to Jstar''s suggestion, check out www.bestdiamonds.co.uk Indira posts here and she might be able to help you.

thanks for that I''ll try her - but I am thinking about going for a diamond with a blue flourescene - to save cash - I know they are not considered as valuable as colourless but I ust want a hint of colour to be a little different

please let me know if you know any more - or if i can help you.

I think a diamond with blue fluor would be an excellent, money-saving idea! I recently saw a colleague''s diamond with strong blue fluor out in the light (it was spotlighting at a baseball game), and that baby really looked blue. The important thing here will be to make sure you go with a trusted vendor who can see the diamond in person before sending it to you, since there is a rare effect with strong fluor that makes diamonds look milky or oily.

How about something like this?

This Princess of Hearts stone is a cut cornered square with round-like optics, 0.56/E/SI2 with strong blue fluor, for about $1800 USD. If it''s eye clean, it could turn out to be just what you''re looking for.

cheers for that you have settled my mind soo much - would you trust GOG - i see others do at moment i am alsotaking to Solmomon Bros and James allen

so will have to see - still have some way to go in seeing what they can do as I want bands for me and the man!

I think i want a diamond as close as I can for $1800 - with 0.7 - 1ct

Absolutely, GOG is one of the most well reputed companies around here! I would add Whiteflash, Winfield''s, and Pearlman''s to the list of trusted vendors in addition to the ones you mentioned. Good luck!

Great stuff - I am talking to a few at moment to see what they can do.

I am just a bit confused as to which cut for this stone will be the best as I am going for a stone with flouresesnce mid/strog blue - to give a hint of colour - I know that these can look a bit duller - oily etc if not a good stone - but which cut will make the most sparkle?

Thanks guys - Im getting exctited now

Hi Jo,

Bear in mind even with strong blue fluorescence, you may not notice the bluish glow all the time, it will help a diamond face up whiter, but it won't look like a blue diamond as such. As to cut, with the square shape you are considering, it depends on what you go for. A branded PoH should be of good cut quality, a trusted company such as GOG who stocks them will help you, but if you prefer a radiant for example, then detailed photos and images such as ASET will be needed to help you choose and evaluate the diamond.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure!!

I would think if you don't get a response today you should Tuesday, if not give them a call!

You have a great weekend too

I ditto the suggestion for a princess of hearts - imho you get the best of both - a cut corner design with RB - like optics.

As to the fluoro, I think Lorelei has already covered it. I doubt you will come across a PoH with an oily/milky appearance, but as to other cuts best to evaluate on a stone-by-stone basis.

Let us know how you go !

Here's an article by GOG where they talk about fluorescence. I doubt even a strong blue fluoresced diamond is going to look blue at all honestly. Maybe in bright sunlight it'll show a bit of blue but in normal lighting situations, like Lorelei, I don't think it will.

The article also compares different colored diamonds side by side, it's a pretty interesting read if you feel like going through the other sections.

Cheeres guys for that - but it always comes down to budget - so Im happy with getting a white diamond now as I dont want stone to be too small.

I did the request thing for stones on Price scope - had a couple of responses but think I will have to contact them directly - thing is living in uk poses as time difference.

off to see if I have won £70 million on the lottery - what are my chances do you think?!!!
