Hi, Im still kinda new and I was wondering if there was any easy way to clean my diamond without having to take it to the jewelry store. thank

Buy your own steam or ultrasonic cleaner.

Else, you can use dishwashing liquid and warm water. Then blow dry with a can of compress air that you can buy from electronics/computer shop.

Welcome!

It depends on your ring and what it is made of, if you have a pave setting with tiny melee diamonds then you shouldn't use an ultrasonic machine as these can loosen the stones. If you do then you will have to carefully clean it by hand, rinse and dry. You can use something like sudsy ammonia diluted with hot water providing you don't have a white gold setting, soak, scrub with a soft brush carefully, rinse and dry, ammonia based cleaners are ok for platinum. With white gold non ammonia cleaners are best so as to not affect the finish. For these you can use dishwashing detergent and hot water.

If you have a plainer ring with a centre diamond or a solitaire with sidestones then you are ok to use an ultrasonic.

Get a jewel jet. First, I soaked my diamond ring and cleaned it with ammonia and soap solution. The,n I steam cleaned it. It looked wonderful. I also cleaned my ruby ring and gemstone earrings. Even my bf said that the jewelry looked good.

Also, the jewel jet is on sale at frontgate.com

all the above, good advice

There are a TON of old threads around here discussing cleaning methods, "recipes", suggestions, etc. Brew a cup of tea and do a search... you''ll be busy for HOURS!

If you use an ultrasonic remember not to use it to clean anything other than diamonds, rubies and sapphires. Other stones may be damaged.

Very good point to bring up.

Depending on the metal of your ring be careful what cleaner you use!

Ammonia and some other cleaners can leach metal out of gold alloys, but platinum is fine with it.

Rhodium plating also needs care.
