if i were to clean my white gold pieces alot will that make the yellow shine through sooner?

I have white gold and I was wondering the same thing. I know that if you use a brush to scrub it, it can rub off the rhodium plating. I am not sure, but I think that washing my hands with my rings on and using hand sanitizer has caused my rings to yellow quicker than normal. Any experts that can chime in? Any substances that we should avoid?

Definitely not an expert, but I clean my white gold in the US all the time. I usually redip every 6 months or so. But, my new upgrade I''ve had for over a year and it hasn''t needed dipped yet (but I don''t wear it often because I''m a SAHM).

Like the poster above me, I''m not expert, but will chime in from my own experience...
I think a lot of it has to do with a persons acidity- for example, when I was younger I played the clarinet, and every few years I would get an ''upgrade'' as I progressed, but the plating the on keys would always wear much faster my peers. Finally, my instructor told me it was because of the acidity of my skin- the less acidic, the more time it would take to wear through plating, finish, etc and the more acidic, the faster.
:-D

You want to avoid ammonia and bleach at all costs with WG.

Ditto. I have some jewellery soap which I use on my WG pieces and that has worked very well.

I have white gold and I clean my rings (usually) on a daily basis. I also leave them on when I wash my hands and sleep. I get them redipped about once a year. I have gone longer than that, though.

I use cetaphil for my earrings and pendants! If it''s safe enough for my face, it should be okay for WG.

I will soak then wash off the extra and scrub my diamonds with water.

I use a baby toothbrush and Dove dishwashing soap to scrub my diamond, but never scrub the gold and my ring is still yellowing.

Is it bad to use hand sanitizer with your rings on?
