OK pet owners!

How do you get cat hair out of a rug? Our white ragdoll sheds like no cat I''ve ever SEEN...and FI claims that even after repeated vaccuming, there is still a veil of cat hair on that sucker.

What to do? We have a decent vaccuum....it just doesn''t seem to do the trick! It''s a flat weave embroidered Moroccan rug.

You can take a fine bristled hairbrush and try to brush the fur up, then use one of those sticky lint rollers to pick up the fur...just be gentle enough with the hairbrush that you don''t damage the weave of the carpet by snagging it.

I''ve used a rubber brush like this one (5$ at bed bath and beyond) that seemed to work pretty well. I''ve also heard of using a damp sponge or wearing a damp rubber glove and using that to basically wipe up the hair. Good luck!

I second what laine says. With our two dogs shedding constantly I picked up one of the plastic brushes and it work like a charm.

Ahhh yes the lovely cat hair in the carpet. I also have a white cat that sheds like CRAZY. The thing that seems to work best for us when it''s too deep for the vaccuum is to febreze (or use water) the carpet, and then rub either a new sponge over it, or your hand. The dampness will make the hair cling together and clump up, and it will come up. Gross, but it works.

Hi. I agree that at times it seems that the fur is never ending. I recently purchased a vacumn which I think is awesome. It is called the animal by Dyson. Are we allowed to say brands here. I am amazed at how much comes out of the rug. but then there does always seem to be a little more. ughh

OMG, yes, the hair battle. My furfamily when it was at it''s largest was 5 kitties, 1 doggie and 2 birdies...it made for a terrible mess in my 1 bedroom apartment. The ideas people have posted here have been great. Petsmart sells this "sponge" that you don''t have to wet but it feels like it''s wet/moist when you touch it. You can take it over an area and pull up all kinds of hair and then run the vaccuum over it afterwards. I can''t recommend a vaccuum as every one we pick seems to break...I have heard good things about the Animal by Dyson that someone mentioned in their posting. Anyhow, I feel your pain and wish you luck!

OH the madness!

Will it ever stop?

To give us a break we shaved our canine babies for the summer. They looked like sheered lambs. Thritto Laine on the rubber brush. We have several. Keep one in the car for vet visits. Those are incredible brushes. (If you have any furniture that is micro fiber or suede...it will put a get swirl pattern in the upholstery that is quite pleasing. I have a fetish now with little swirly patterns I can make in our furniture as well as our duvet cover on our bed!!!) But they really swipe away the hair.

Oh one more thing...DUCK TAPE for carpet or rugs. Obviously you can''t do your whole house...but if you have specific spots...get out the quack quack tape.

Oh one more thing...my friend swears by spraying NO Static on the area you are about to clean. Be it vacuum or brush or tape...give it a quick ZAP with no static spray (to get rid of the static in winter...in your skirt etc.) and VIOLA!!
