I have a number of stacking bands I wear with my ER. These are diamonds, sapphires and the combination of both. When I clean them I put them in the US cleaner or the chemicals and they look great. MY DH just gave me a new band with altermating square cut emeralds and diamonds channel set in 18 kt gold. I know emeralds aren''t suposed to go in the US cleaner or the chemicals b/c of their nature, but gunk is going to collect below the band - what''s the best and safest way tio clean a band with emeralds? Thanks!

I use a baby toothbrush with a little bit of dishwashing liquid, and then let them soak for a bit in plain old rubbing alcohol ... keeps them clean and shiny with no problems.

P.S. - Looking forward to pics of the ring!

I would let the ring soak in warm water and with dishsoap that has been throthed up before the ring goes in and then use a baby tooth brush that has been soaking with the ring.Use a very light touch brushing the underside only to loosen up hardened ''stuff''...rinse in puified water.I dont rinse my jewelry under running water.Remember to loupe your jewelry BEFORE cleaning it and check for loose stones with a wooden cutile stick...Im sure that everyone on the forum loupes and checks for loose stones before every cleaning...cheaper and easier for a jeweler to tighten up a loose prong then reset or replace a stone that has fallen out during cleaning.

I have a emerald and diamond shared prong eternity band. I love wearing it but its hard to clean...I did find some gentle jewelry cleaner that is safe for emeralds and pearls that I have had some success with. But, I typically just use warm water, a little mild dishwashing soap and a baby toothbrush.

In addition to using a mild cleaner, I would take it into the jeweller where you bought it so they can clean it professionally (using the proper oil on the emeralds) when it needs a good cleaning.

Thank-you guys for the great suggestions! When I get something new I cannot NOT wear it - so I''ll go out and buy some purified water along with these other ideas - thanks again!
