Classic 6-prong tiffany solitaire setting: seeing recommendations

Hi, all --

With the aid of this site, I have selected an ideal AGS 0 cut (1.2 HCA score), F color, SI1 clarity, 0.90 carat diamond. I''m now looking for recommendations for a quality, 6-prong tiffany solitaire setting, but with more elegant prongs and style than your average run-of-the-mill setting. No sidestones or anything fancy, just a classic solitaire setting to show off the diamond.

P.S. I like the Stuller solstice settings, but think the band on those appear to be a bit thicker/wider -- less ideal for my fiancee''s fingers (does anyone know the actual dimensions on the thickness/width of the Stuller solstice?).

Whiteflash has a nice replica-type Tiffany setting that looks appealing. They seem to have taken into consideration the subtle-yet-important details such as beveling the prongs and leaving somewhat of a “base” where the head rises (so that the head won’t interfere with the w-band . . . in other words, the e-ring and w-band will nudge up nicely to one another).

Ame recently got the Stuller solstice setting and I believe she said it was 3mms wide. She had hers filed down to just under 2mms.

We have a solstice comfort-fit type of setting - it's about 2.5 mm wide and 2 mm thick. The ring really is comfortable, and the prongs have a little shape to them to set them apart from the really straight spoke type of prongs. Also, you can chose either the peg-type of head or the other kind (I forget what it's called) where the head is integrated and there's no separation between the head and the rest of the ring (although I think Tiffany's actually uses a peg-type of head). Anyway, the solstice looks very nice as a variation on the Tiffany setting.

On the negative side, the solstice wedding ring does not sit flush with the engagement ring - there's a small gap.

But overall, we're happy with it.

Thanks all for the input. I think my favorite so far is the dimend scaasi 1A3 because of the elegant prongs and the way the band (when viewed from the top) narrows down on either side of the stone -- seems to highlight the diamond that much more.

I didn't think of modifying/filing down the Stuller Solstice, but will consider that since I do really like the Solstice prong design also.

If anyone has pix of their own rings with these settings they can post or can point me to any in 'Show Me The Ring,' that'd be great!

The Superbcert one is the most like the T & Co in that they custom make each mounting to your diamond's specific mm measurements, just the way T & Co does. The one from Whiteflash is just a stock mounting that you order closest to your diamond's carat weight and the diamond fits in as best as possible. But even if you compare the pics from the Whiteflash site to Superbcert's site, you will see how the diamond doesn't really "fit" in Whiteflash's but it fits like a glove on Superbcert's, and they also show it with a couple of diamond sizes so you can see how it is custom no matter the diamond. Nice Ice also makes a good replica of the authentic T & Co version, but I don't know if they custom make it to one's diamond's specs, although I know they do make it custom, so you'd have to call and verify. The Diamond Scassi one is not a good design, IMO -- tapering/pinching the shank ruins the look for me.
As to the Solstice, it is VERY different from the T & Co mounting. It is not delicate, yet very chunky which is fine if that is what you are after. The prongs are very thick and there is a lot of metal there, no openings like on the really good T & Co replica's (i.e. Superbcert, Nice Ice). Also, the stone sits up quite high, even if you go for what they call their "low" or "medium" height settings.
I was going to go this route before deciding on a three-stone, so I did alot of research on the options. I spoke in detail with Barry from Superbcert and Robin from Nice Ice on their T & Co replicas and they both spent a lot of time on the phone with me and took the time to give me the mm's I requested and other detailed info. Nice Ice shows a band on their website, but Barry at Superbcert said that they can make the band even though they don't show it.
