Sorry for all the repeat, boring questions, but I am nearly committed and have jitters.
My question is:
I am interested in a 1.57 RB Ideal H VS1.
I spoke to bluenile and the have a 1.50 RB ideal H SI1 they said is "eye clean"
The difference in price is $1300. From what is said on the forum, eye clean may not be really eye clean. Is it worth is to save $$$.

what is their definition of eye clean? from how far?

hello, jddiamond........the important thing, in my way of thinking is to communicate well with your seller. How are you going to mount the stone? Eye clean usually means from the top down....looking into the stone. Ask the seller what he means by eye clean. An SI1 stone may show an inclusion from the side....( so might a VS 1 too ) so if eye clean "from the side" is important to you, then ASK that too.

Ask questions until you feel you and your seller are speaking the same language.

What is the return policy on this stone??

A VS1 inclusion will be very hard to see even with a loupe. An SI1 will be easily seen with a loupe and may be eye visible from the top or side. I think $1300 difference to get the VS1 is well worth it in a stone that size, but that is just my personal preference.

Blue Nile has an excellent 30 day return policy. I think it would be worth saving $1,300 to take a look for yourself.

I''m with diamondseeker on issues of clarity. I really prefer a VS stone, it''s just a mind clean issue. With the larger stones things like color and sometimes clarity are much easier to spot. If a stone is guaranteed eye clean at SI, I''d certainly consider it, although I''d want to hear from a seller who actually examined the stone personally too.
