stone code is J3873547

Not sure why the link is not working for you... Sorry.

That stone have strong blue fluor, which explains the slight lower price. :P Sorry, miss out that point.

Sorry but I can''t seem to get that link to work. Would you be kind enough to paste the actual one?

Thanks Daysie! I know what you mean about the exchange rates

, but you will be able to get something wonderful for the budget!

Stone_cold: Just checked it out...will go with what u say...medium blue = not as good as faint blue!

Lorelei: We had to NEGOTIATE the budget. Originally it was only $25,000 but then I found out abt the 3 mths salary rule and he conceded to the new budget, although he knew abt the 3 mths rule all along!! It was also another guy who got confused abt the colour grade. I think I will need to stick to the E as BF is quite adamant about that whereas I''m sticking to my guns about carat and cut. So I guess that''s why clarity is the only known variable we have to play with.

I will definitely be posting up some comparisons for your opinions in the near future and I will def recommend this website to all my gf''s in the future. Australians on the whole are quite clueless on diamonds. I mean I had ppl telling me to just get a rock as big as I can and who cares about certifications??! They obviously only cared about the size and that was it.

Just wanted to mention, the 2 or 3 months salary '' rule'' was actually a marketing slogan invented by a large diamond company and not something you have to follow, but you have a terrific budget and will end up with a superb diamond.

Agreed. Good budget. :)

Good Luck. Remember to call them up to check to see if the stones are eye-clean before buying it.

Hi Guys,

Thanks again for all your help. I''ve sent my enquiries to Jogia and hopefully they will get back to me soon. But you guys will definitely hear the merits of each of the short-listed diamonds before I make any decisions!

Hello!! Sorry I am late to the party! You have got some great advice here, Lorelei especially knows her sparklies

I bought from WF and I wouldn''t hesitate them at all, but due to our crapful dollar, I would second the notion for Jogia. Especially their Crossfire range, you can get images etc to help make an informed decision.

As far as the budget negotions, I would reconsider the colour maybe? E stones are super icy white and look stunning but you are paying a massive premium for a high colour in such a large stone. You could easilly drop to a G colour and still look very very white and no hint of colour. This would put a few $$$ towards the wedding. I would also suggest dropping to VS2 clarity or even an eyeclean SI1, if you can''t see the inclusions, why pay for it? Especially if the budget was higher than your FF origanally thought. And finally, if you go for a stone that is slightly shy of the 2ct mark, ie. 1.8, 1.9, 1.95 etc, you will avoid paying the big price jump for the magic 2ct mark and you will not even be able to tell the difference when the stones are set. It''s still going to look like a massive gorgeous rock

Are you in Melbourne by any chance? You may want to swing by Holloway Diamonds (Precious Metals) in Canterbury or Brighton and you can see what a truly well cut stone will look like. You can compare some stones just under the 2ct mark and see if paying the price jump premium is worth it.

I honestly think you can still get a large beautiful, white, very close to 2ct stone in a beautiful setting for closer to 25k than 40k, Just my 2 cents though, but a lot of people think they have to have high colour and high clarity for the stone to look fabulous. Think of all the extra dollars for the wedding, honeymoon etc.

Good luck and keep us posted!!! I just love seeing new Aussies around here

Hi daysie, as Lorelei mantioned I have purchased from GOG (diamond), and WF (setting), and had a wonderful experience - couldn''t have asked for better!
I am usually all for encouraging other Aussie PS''ers to go the same route, but in all honesty it just doesn''t make good economic sense right now with out terrible $. Plus then you have import tax etc on top..
You are on the right track with Jogia, we have had a couple of other PS''ers buy from them lately and all very happy.
I live in Perth, and although have not bought from them, have only heard great things about Jogia.

Yes, Crossfire is just another branded name for H&A diamonds, similiar to Hearts on Fire, ACA, etc..
You have received good advice so far about your choices, I would second that you could easily go to an F/G colour and your guy won''t ever see the difference, if size is more important to you. But of course its just up to you - as you know my stone is a K, and still faces up very white - this is due to a combo of the great cut and medium fluoro (fluoro can help some "lower" colours face up whiter)..

Please let me know if I can be of any more assistance,
regards
AJ.
