Hi All,

In comparison of some SI1 diamonds between James Allen and WhiteFlash, I seem to notice a lot more inclusions with the James Allen "Actual Diamond" photos. Is this normal for all SI1's ? Or just to the SI1's in James Allen's collection? Assuming of course that the inclusions are all the black lines/streaks inside the diamond.

Similar results when comparing VS2's between the two vendors as well.

I don't think WF normally allows non-eyeclean stones in it's ACA or ES collections. James Allen has a MUCH wider variety of stones because they are partly owned by a diamond supplier so they have a wider quality range. You have to ask more questions and get additonal idealscope images on JA stones to be sure the stone is eyeclean and doesn't have leakage. Of course, WF can access thousands of diamonds held by suppliers as well. But the advantage to buying their own line is that you are already provided the info to make a good decision since almost all of their stones are excellent.

@diamond: Thanks, those are valid points. I was leaning towards purchasing WF anyway, just surprised me to compare "SI1"'s from both vendors to have such big differences. I suppose what I was concerned about was finding inclusions like the ones found in JA's in the WF diamonds, considering they both have the same "SI1" clarity rating.

The clarity grade is a result of the lab grading the diamond and not of the vendor selling the stone. But as DS said, WF pre selects it's diamonds for its ES and ACA assuring you that the stone is eye clean. You can certainly find good SI1's at JA, however WF makes selecting one easier since its pre selected for you.

Grading SI1 is not from the online stores but by the Lab, it is possible wf check all the SI1 stones before categorizing
it ACA/ES, you could ask for the Expert opinion as well, I am sure they would help you find right stone as per requirement.
