Finally got around to getting this set! The setting is 14k yellow gold from sally, formerly held an emerald cut cz, but I swapped it out for a cushiony chrome tourmaline from Gene. It's about 1 ct, a little bigger than 7x5.

These photos are awful, but I'm excited so I'm sharing them anyways.

I promise better ones tomorrow.

Bah, these photos are bad! Don't capture the green at all! Bah....
Oh well, will try again tomorrow.

Very pretty! The setting is just right for it.

Beautiful ring, and I love the colour of the tourmaline even if you couldn't capture it how you wanted. Really unusual cut too, very nice. :)

Took some photos...all turned out awfully, bah.
You'll just have to take my word that the stone is a beautiful, pure, vibrant green, lol.

I'm not very happy with the jeweler who did the reset. Granted the shape was a little different, and the size wasn't exactly 7x5, but I think next time I send something to sally, I'll send this along too to see if she can un-mangle some of the damage. The ring still looks quite lovely from arms length away, but I'm picky, lol. Sigh, what I wouldn't give for a competent local bench man!

So sorry...I can see the prongs are a bit wonky, that would bother me too.

Laura

That's a very pretty chrome tourmaline! Which of the photos you posted would you say is the closest to the true color?

Beautiful stone! Sorry to hear about the reset job though :nono: Hopefully it can be straightened out.

The ones that are taken from farther away are most accurate.

That ended up fitting nicely! I didn't notice much with the prongs until you pointed it out, but it may look different IRL.

Love the color, it glows.

as of a day or so last the price of gold was at the $1400.00/oz. number again & ur stone looks very good-cut & color looking well-good chrome tourmaline is priced @ $2000.00 per ct. retail so ur little ring/stone setup represents a very nice package that u should be proud to show to other gemophiles especially who enjoy green colored stones-steve...

Thanks everyone!

It really is lovely and glowy IRL, and the subpar setting isn't really noticeable to anybody except me (and my fellow PSers looking at my macro photos, haha). I'm glad I can finally wear it and enjoy it, I don't mind waiting until the next time I ship to Sally to fix it up.
In the meantime, I really love the color combo!

Wow you can really tell it is a beautiful green color. I love that color green and it doesn't get much better than Gene's cutting. Lovely, the pierced gallery is awesome.

Elegant ring!
