OK, I know it might be a little early, but I need to start thinking about stocking stuffers for my wife. It gets harder and harder every year.

So far I got on my list:

DVDs
Books
Aveda Skin care products
Holiday Spice or sugar from Williams Sonoma
Travel coffee mug
Perfume - D&G Light Blue?

Any more suggestions? She really loves her stocking and I suck at trying to find things for it. Oh and no jewelry. Remember I've been told to cease and desist.

Help!

BTW, where's the best place to buy perfume? Is e-bay reliable?

Thanks

Stocking suggestions:

How about a certificate to a Spa for a complete day of beauty.

This usually includes the following:
1 Hour Massage
Facial
Pedicure and Manicure
Champagne Luncheon
Haircut/Shampoo and Style

It is just a day of pampering and everyone needs that at times.

I last year for my boyfriend bought an hour massage. He recipocated the same.

Good Luck

Perfume on Ebay... not sure. They are really, really easy to fake - there is an entire industry doing just that, only with kind of mixed results and lots of cost cutting. One can buy just about any perfume "brand" around here with about $1. It is not obvious at all what is which until you open the bottle

I've got Bulgary's BLV when asking for Garry's bracelet the other day. It's a darling blue bottle and wonderful havy scent...

Thanks ... did the spa day last year and the year before... I need to be more original

OK, no perfume on e-bay

I''ve ordered D&G off of eBay and it was legit--it also wasn''t ridiculously priced. i saved about 15-20% when shippng was factored in. I order it off of there mainly because I don''t have time to go to the mall anymore.

How about a darling little diamond pinky ring?

Hmmmmm.... depends on what she is into..... I like the little stuff you don''t bother buying for yourself.

- Starbucks gift cards -- keeps you from having to have cash on hand
- high end kitchen goodies-- the little indulgences of William-Sonoma -- stainless measuring spoons that fit into spice bottles, small wisks, they have great sponges, hand soap and lotions for the kitchen sink, a speciality knife, .....
- good socks for whatever she is into (running, golf, hiking, just hanging around cute ones, etc....)
- a small jewelry pouch for her purse for if she takes her rings off (had to get a jewelry related one in...).
- mini Ipod
- designer sunglasses (returnable to find a different style if need be)
- good gloves and/or a cashmere scarf (I love good gloves)
- tickets to a show or symphony

fun project. What is she into?

All great ideas .... i''ve done many of them, ipod, almost every kitchen thing, microplanes in three different kinds, Global knives, silicone lifters, le crueset, silpats (I kinda wanted to stay away from kitchen stuff this year, not as romantic)

I think she needs gloves, runs on the treadmill almost daily, so socks and maybe a new pair of shoes. I''d love to get her a new purse, but I found out it''s way too personal. We looked around at Cole Hahn, Kenneth Cole and Etienne Aigner today and everything I like, she hated.

Sunglasses are a great idea. I keep borrowing her Oakleys and I broke them

Thanks guys, keep those ideas coming!

You said jewelry is banned... but how about a serious gem&jewelry related book (if you do not have a shelf full already). This may help lift the ban (perhaps tooo well) . Wise''s is a very good ''apetizer'', so to speak.

Oops--My brain doesn''t recognize the words "jewelry" and "banned" in the same sentence--sorry.

By all means, there is no way going wrong and something like the bit below already makes a stocking-full, IMO

A journal, or maybe a new address book or daytimer, if she uses any of those? Or a wallet?

How bout a really, really nice pen?

Exactly how big is this stocking of hers?? You''ve got a pretty good list going!

Our children are 17 and 21, and we STILL give them toys, some better than others. I really liked the super dooper slingshot filled with water balloons. The kids would shoot it straight up, and the men would stroll around whistling, waiting to get hit on the head.
emotion-16.gif

I really like the personalized notecard idea, and the tray for the bathroom.

One year I had a box of pancake mix and some syrup in my stocking.

Suzanne

Oh, and why does my text have blue shading?

You guys are great! Many ideas I never would never think of. Stockings are a big thing for her, more so than gifts. I''m good with gifts but, I never grew up with stockings so I always get an anxiety attack every year when it comes time to get things for it.

It will be a big stocking

Jewelry is banned after the surprise triple row eternity band. Even so I''m playing around with a 65 point stone, trying to take idealscope pictures of it on the sly. I''ll match it up and she''ll get studs for Mother''s Day.

What is a good manicure set? Any suggestions? I guess a trip to Victoria''s Secret for that diamond bra is in order (opps forgot, no jewelry)

I better try to Tivo Oprah''s favorite things on Monday as well. Always neat stuff. Too bad I wasn''t there when she gave away the cars.

I forgot to add.....ballpoint pens! I can never have enough, I always have one handy in the kitchen, near the phone and they are suddenly missing!! I just open a drawer and there are many more....

Stockings are HUGE for our family, probably the most fun part. My Mother started that tradition, as when she was growing up that was all they had, there was no additional money for gifts. I still remember going to my Grandmothers home on Christmas morning and all the stockings of her children and grandchildren hung over the fireplace on an old clothesline and all attached by clothes pins. Ahhhhh memories

Also, you can make a visit to www.oprah.com and find her favorite things, in case you don''t get to see the show

In that case, Noobie, I have a suggestion.....you can stuff MY stocking with that gorgeous 3-tier eternity band you got from signed pieces.

It will help feed your addiction, it will keep your wife happy (because she''s not getting jewelry). I don''t mind making that sacrifice to keep marital harmony for you.

It will help feed your addiction,

Does this mean I have to go to Diamonds Anonymous?

A few more items :-)

Unforgettable Door Hanger - www.solutionscatalog.com - a note pad, with 50 sheets, shaped just like a "do not disturb" sign from a hotel that you can hang on your door as a reminder list of "to do''s" before leaving the house. Just hang on the door knob!

If you enjoy wine, there is a really fun opener at www.corkpops.com , I promise you''ll never struggle with another cork!

Have you seen the new cylinder looking pillow in bright colors? It''s apparantly the new hot item. Brookstone has them and I''m sure other places do too. It''s call the FOM Jumbo Stress Relieving Pillow and can be found at www.brookstone.com

Happy Shopping

Hi Noobie:

I have D&G Light Blue and I get the most compliments on it! I also just purchased Escada Magnetism, which is lovely. I would definitely buy either one for your wife. I also use the Aveda line, for everyday, and the Skin Medica line is more professional, peels, and treatments. Skin Medica is costly though, but worth it. I like getting my favorite candles in my stocking or CD's that I have wanted. Also, I would bet your wife would REALLY enjoy Godiva chocolate, you can get the small one just for the stocking! I also purchased Maui Jim sunglasses after my LASIK surgery and they are the BEST ive ever owned! You cannot bend the frame on them, check out the website for them, I know you will be pleased! Best of luck!

Lori

PS
I buy my perfume and some cosmetics from Sephora, they come in a nice silk pouch or gift box and you get 3 samples of your choosing with each order.

Thanks everyone, this is very helpful

I was going to get some Aveda Tourmaline creme and just looked at the Skin Medica rejuvenating creme yellowfan mentioned. Any recommendations or other suggestions?

Is Victoria''s Sercet my best bet for for satin pjs and lingerie?

D&G Light Blue ordered and on it''s way!

Noobie,

I forgot to add Skin Medica or MD Forte is purchased thru a dermatologist, or maybe your regular MD can order for you. If you want to order quickly, I have used Elizabeth Arden line of skin capsules for your skin and separate one for your eyes, I think you can order at Sephora, or I have ordered straight from Dillards online. Chanels line of skincare is great also. You can buy the skincare by age category also. I like Avedas hand lotion and I use it nightly. If you check Sephora they have holiday gift ideas on the main page. If your wife likes nice soaps, I have purchased L'Occitane skincare items, they have shea butter and are really nice. You can order colonial or yankee candles online.

Lori

Victoria secret has nice things, I have some of the long silk gowns from there and my younger daughter has the robes and cotton gowns. If you buy a robe, buy a smaller size, they are on the larger size and my husband bought me one for Christmas and I think the sizing was way off for small and medium, it was 3 sizes to big.

I just did a web search and found half a dozen sites that sell it?! How''s that TNS stuff?

Of Skin Medica line :
Dermal Repair,
Retinol complex,
15% AHA/BHA Face cream,
facial cleanser,
rejuvenative toner
TNS recovery
Lip treatment

Of MD Forte:
cleanser 1
moisturizer 1

I am very happy with this line and will use it the rest of my life, and my daughter will when she is older. I think its the best, but its expensive. Please let me know which site you get it from, my dermatologist charges $9 for the lip treatment. I hope your wife is into creams and such otherwise you will waste a lot of cash on these products, im not for sure if they are returnable. May I ask what age your wife is? You should buy the age related category.

I just did a Yahoo search. Prices look the same $9 for lip treatment. The regimes look complex on their site.

Noobie:

Its not, you need to figure out the basics you need, like do you just want the cream or the face wash too. I bought the whole line cause I wanted it and I have dry skin and some eczema flares in the winter. I promise its not complicated, if you let me know what your looking for and the age range of your wife I can let you know which is best, like is your wife the 30, or in the 40 up range? Those would choose the more complex night creams to help with the losing of collagen. I will be happy to help you.

Lori

Thanks for the offer yellowfan, but I think I''ll let her pick out a regime and just stick to little things in this area for the stocking stuffers.
