I am helping a friend locate a square radiant for his girlfriend. He is currently considering these two Whiteflash stones. The total budget is $5000 and he is looking at a plain platinum setting (probably the fine line from WF if he goes forward with them).

Stone #1
http://www.whiteflash.com/radiant/Radiant-cut-diamond-2048647.htm#

I VVS2 Stone, 1.07 carat
Table 59%
Depth 64.7%
5.78-5.58X3.61

Stone #2http://www.whiteflash.com/radiant/Radiant-cut-diamond-2101739.htm

F VS1, 1.01 carat
Table 65%
Depth 67.8%
5.54-5.40X3.66

I''ve checked out the chart here and I think that stone #1 is the best bet but it baffles me a little that a stone with that high of a clarity rating is selling for so little. Am I missing something? I realize that its an I but thats still a very respectable color grade.

Thanks!

I color is respectable but still discounted when compared to F. So basically, you drop gain a grade in clarity but lose 3 grades in color, resulting in the price. Also these stones are not in-house, so they are prices not set by WF but the actual stone vendors.

To buy fancies, we will require images such as ASET, these WF can provide assuming you request the stones to be called in.

Hi Claire

If these are non in house stones will need ASET, detailed photos and a Sarin run on the diamond, WF should be able to do all this once they have the diamond/s in house. It is the colour difference accounting for the price!

Thank you both for your wisdom! I had a feeling the might not have been in house stones and that it was a color thing.

My friend actually just purchased a gorgeous 1.077 carat G SI2 (eye clean, looks like the inclusions are in the girdle) x-factor in a legato sleek lines setting! I am so pleased for him and I am excited to see this stone in person. Its sort of the best of both worlds for him- a square stone but something that doesn''t have a large table like a princess. All for under his budget!

I have been ogling that X-factor for a long time and was wondering when it would finally sell! It looked gorgeous from what I recall.

Have you decided if you are going to pursue either of these Claire?

He has the stone on reserve and was sleeping on it last night. The invoice has been sent to him. I think as soon as WF opens this morning (we are on EST) he will give them a ring. Ring should be here by Wednesday of next week.
