I love your upgrade idea! However, I think the leap from G to K will be a big one. I'd stick with I or J.

Thanks, I agree. I will stick to the near colorless scale.

Here's what I would do:

I'd get a graduated eternity band. I'd want the stones on the sides of my finger and against the palm of my hand to be no larger than 10-pointers, and then from the sides of my finger and up I would graduate to the biggest center stone my money would buy. That way, you have the big bling of a large eternity band without the bulkiness of the large stones hitting your other fingers and sticking out from your palm.

I wear a shared-prong eternity band with 7-pointers and it's very comfortable. But these stones are TINY compared to your monster half carat cushions! (Which are gorgeous, by the way.)

I really love the I VS2 stone the best. I think if it is the center of a three stone ring, 2 cts. is plenty large!

I think I am going with an upgrade of my solitaire with side stones in trellis setting in platinum. it will be super comfy, still nice and blingy and it is insane but I'd actually come out ahead money wise. CRAZY! I will post pictures. I think I prefer half eternity bands. I looked at my jewel box today and I have bot 3 eternity rings in the past and they are always half. Anyhoo thank you.

Thank you everyone for weighing in and helping me on Christmas that too. Thank you. I am very grateful. It is hard to make this decision. I really don't want to give back my eternity ring and knowing that I have a new viable option, I feel much better.

Zephyr-
I know I'm a little late to the party--but I thought I'd chime in. I wear a 5.32ctw eternity ring and it took some getting used to--I would say it took me a couple weeks. I think your ring is uncomfortable because of the setting. I think the Mark Morrell shared prong would make your ring MUCH more comfortable. Although beautiful, there's just too much metal for that carat weight. As far as bling factor--I don't think a solitaire can touch an eternity (although I've never tried a 2.2 :Up_to_something: ). If you're really about being understated--go with the solitaire. If you're about bling...stick with the eternity. Anyway, just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Can't wait to see what you decide!

Thank you. :)

"Thanks. I think I am going with a K color 2.22 carat Round for the center stone and then 2 J color 0.5 or 0.6 side stones. I am upgrading my center stone to 2.22 carat stone and getting a three stone ring. I think it will look nice and be comfortable"

I like that idea, based upon your 'inventory' ( :D ) I love my 3 stone and with the upgraded sizes you are thinking of, it will give you plenty of finger coverage that you'll be happy with.

I also agree with diamondseeker that the leap you are making to a K may be noticeable to you. Have a look at some I, J or K stones IRL and see what you think.

Size wise, I think your 2.2 with 2 x .5 or .6cts beside it would be a great proportion. Again, maybe you can get pairs of different sizes beside the new centre stone to see IRL and if they are too disproportionate, you are on site and can check out slightly larger stones. Would you consider a .7 or .8 as an option? If you are going up to 2.2ct for the centre... it may want some larger friends to hang out with!

Please bring us along on the journey with you - so we can live vicariously thru your sparkly world!! :sun: :sun:

Hi there

I am upgrading my studs to 2 carats (4 ctw) instead. I am returning the stones from the band. It is just way too uncomfy. I wrote Mark Morell and he told me that there is no way to make a 0.5 carat each cushion cut e-ring comfortable.

I wear my studs and my engagement ring and half e-ring on my left hand the most so I am going to upgrade my studs. :D

Hi everyone.

First, Merry Xmas! I got an eternity ring (7.5 tcw) with prong setting. I have had it for 2 days and boy, it is uncomfortable. My questions are:

  • Do you think I will get used to it?
  • I could use the funds to upgrade my 1.24 carat solitaire to a bigger stone. (1.64-1.70)? Which would you pick? The eternity ring or the Solitaire upgrade?

These are for my right hand btw. I m a lucky gal. I wear a ruby and a half eternity on my left hand. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

7 carat total weight is a bracelet. Not a comfortable ring at all.

What is your current enegaement ring setting? If it's a custom or special setting for your 1.24 then I wouldn't upgrade. I would switch that eternity band out for something more comfortable though. But if your engagement ring is a simple solitaire--- I would TOTALLY upgrade to 1.7! That's a nice jump in size.

ETA: Love the stud upgrade idea!

My engagement ring is a 2.3 carat burmese ruby with diamond side stones. The eternity ring or the solitaire upgrade would have been for my right hand.

Thanks :) I like the studs upgrade idea too since I wear them the most. I am excited.
