I''m in the final stages. it''s out of these 3 stones. Please help! I know I''ve gone against my ideal of wanting D, IF stone. it''s either of these 3...

VVS1, E, 0.55C:http://www.superbcert.com/Shop_By_Product/Diamond_Details.cfm/P/521/N/1;1 (this one has a feather although not listed on the GIA cert - what does that mean? and what is a feather?)

IF, F, 0.47C: http://www.superbcert.com/Shop_By_Product/Diamond_Details.cfm/P/506/N/1;1 (nothing wrong with this one as far as I can see but a little on the smaller side)

IF, G, 0.57: http://www.goodoldgold.com/0_57ct_g_if__h&a.htm (G color but I am told I will not see the difference between this and a D using my naked eye, also the GIA cert says that minor details of polish are not shown. Does this mean they don''t exist or that they are not shown on the cert?)

Choices, choices. I am at the point now where I just want to buy and hate this last part. Realistically will I see much of a difference between them all? If not would the wise choice be to just go for the best priced one?

Thanks for your help! please help me decide.

Cheers,

Ed.

A feather is a small type of inclusion.... name derived from it's shape. If it says that something is not shown on the cert, it mean that it is there, just very very small.

Did you consider this one:?
0.628H E VS2

I bet with a loupe you will be hard pressed to find the inclusions in a VS. What was your budget again?

I'm looking at about $2500-2800 for the diamond.

Not *really* interested in going below a VVS1. The above diamonds seem to have great H&A's, good brilliant scope reports (GOG give a good ISee2 report also), and perfect (or as near as possible).

Thanks for the advice. I hate this last part. You know when you go off to buy that new car, you get it home and you sit there wondering should I have brought the black one, or the slightly higher model? Well - I don't want that feeling!!!

The E-VVS1 looks like the winner: it is the most balanced choice among yours. With *perfection* in mind, I would look for VVs2 or better, F color or better. if your D-IF idea did not hold. Sorry for that one...

I like the E/VVS 1 and the F/IF.

I agree - the E VVS is the most balanced choice. Numbers look great, scope looks fantastic, patterns look beautiful. This seems the best blend of them all.

ed,
you really owe it to yourself to go and see the difference between d/e and g color stones. if you do, you will have your answer. my experience (personally and with clients) is that most people who exhibit the level of interest that you have in purchasing the "perfect" diamond do see a discernable difference between d/e and g colors. since you have found what looks to be a beautiful evvs1 in your price range, but are considering a gif, go and see. you will feel more secure in your ultimate decision.

try to remember that this process should be joyful...not painful!

good luck!

I vote for the E VVS1 as well. I agree that it's a well balanced choice. If you are set on a very white diamond, I don't think you'll be as happy with a G. Despite what anyone tells you, there is a discernable difference between E and G to a discriminating eye.

I agree. #1 and #3 are almost the same price, and you will probably notice the color difference, but not the clarity difference. #2 will be noticably smaller in diameter, and I would rather have E/VVS1 than F/IF.
