Chocolate varies too. How and why chocolate from around the world varies so much.

SNIP: (a bit edited) "... the same big-brand chocolate bar you can pick up in the UK might taste different in the US, Australia and Asia, even if the packaging looks the same."

Many just want to enjoy the play on the stage.
But I'm always trying to look behind the curtain.

I've had too much wine to comprehend this article right now but I mean if it isn't See's do we even need to think about eating it? Really just asking.

boxing day rant coming up
i miss Cadburys when it tasted good
it used to be made proudly in my home town with fresh milk collected daily from amung others, my friend's family dairy farm on the Otago penisula in a purple milk tanker
it was made with cane sugar and had no palm oil
it was made in a modern factory that had continually evolved to stay productive and economic
you never heard any employee say a bad word of the place

but Mondelēz International, did the dirty on us

the stuff is vial now
the worst being roses, what happened to all the old flavours ?
and the wrapping is stupid
you cant even buy after dinner mints any more
boo hiss Cadbury

In the 70s & 80s I was stationed in Europe for most of my 6 years in the US military.

Then, and there, I also loved Cadbury chocolate.
I bought a bar recently here in the US,.
It was horrible! :knockout:

My fav was those little 1 1/2 inch chocolate squares that came 4 or 6 in a pack.
The inside was a light & crunchy biscuit, with a bit of malt flavor.

I've never cared for that cooked milk taste of Cadbury chocolate. Now I know why it tastes that way.

As long as we're salivating for choooocolate , give this trailer a taste.
I've found it scrumptious - every 5 or 6 times I've streamed it.

Streaming widely, but free on ParamountPlus.

But wait! ... There's more!
The scrumptious Dame Judy Dench is in it.

Chocolate recipes have to vary in order to cope with different regional climates.

Hence the same brand and type can vary in taste depending on where they are purchased.

yes, from memory our cadbury used to have none of the aditives that stopped it melting unlike the Aussie and South African cadbury chocolate i tried

When we were in Sweden and Norway this past summer, we were surprised to find that although most grocery stores had a decent candy selection, they carried practically no dark chocolate! All they had was very creamy, ridiculously sweet milk chocolate!

I love very dark chocolate and have been known to eat baking chocolate.
The milk chocolate so common in the US hardly even should qualify as chocolate.
Hershey extra dark to me is the first step to good chocolate at 60% cocoa. 70%+ is much better.

70% at a minimum for me, though I prefer 85%. Trader Joe's has one particular bar that I buy in bulk.
