check the certification on this diamond. as part of the inscription, there's a mark I havent seen the symbol before and wonder if anyone knows who the cutter or cut is or what it is otherwise?

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1446309.asp

I know that anything can be put on if its paid for, but just curious what this particular one might be.

Thanks in advance,

Ravin

Is that an IGI grading report number?

If so, it looks like IGI graded the diamond too and laser inscribed the IGI report number on the girdle before GIA graded it. How fun!

Just for fun it would be interesting if we could look up the IGI grades and compare them to the GIA grades.

GIA grades it F while IGI grades it H?
That's weird.

I tried to look it up myself here:

http://www.igiworldwide.com/search_report.aspx

It did not find the report, but it says the tool does not have data for stones graded before 2004.
Still, those color grades are suspicious.
Usually we see IGI grading softer than GIA, not three grades harder.

Kenny, I was able to look it up using this link: http://www.igi-usa.com/igiweb/onlinereport/

The information report on the left, not the institute report on the right.

Kenny, my guess is that IGI graded it sitting in it's 18k yg setting whereas GIA only would grade the stone loose. Interesting implications for 18 k yg's effect on diamond color!
