I''m going to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday with my husband, MIL, and my mom. Obviously the most important part of the derby is the hats and fashion

so i got a big old hat and used my hot glue gun to decorate it- derby style. The hat is more of a "rust" color IRL, and I used black feathers and ribbon to fancy it up. My dress that I''m wearing is a tan, rust, cream, and black tunic with sparkly details at the neckline, and this hat just goes wonderfully with it!

This hat actually is pretty mild compared to many of the hats people will be wearing. I wasn''t about to spend hundreds of dollars on a hat that will probably get ruined in the rain- the hat was $18, and the materials were $12- $30 total, not too bad!

Yay! Love it! I have been to the Derby twice and had an unbelievable time. Drink a mint julep for me!

i''ll drink one for nostalgia-sake...but they are so gross IMHO.
my mom had going to the derby on her "bucket list"- when my husband and i invited her this year, i thought she was going to cry! she cannot wait to go, it gets me even more excited! i told her we had a ticket for her when she was at work...she must have been talking about it non-stop since bc she said today one of the salesmen said he was so excited for her and handed her $20 for a mint julep and to bet on the winner.

Lookin at Lucky is favored to win BUT

13 years ago, Bob Baffert entered the derby with a gray horse... who had lots of white on his face. His name was Silver Charm. He won.

Tomorrow, Bob Baffert will be entering with a gray horse... who has lots of white on his face. His name is Conveyance. That''s who I am watching.
