Hi all,

I was hoping you would give me a bit of help on a RB diamond. Here are the specs, it has a GIA cert:

Carats: 0.92
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Depth: 61.9%
Table: 56%
Crown: 35 deg
Pavillion: 40.4 deg
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very good
Girdle: M to Slightly TK
Culet: None
Fluor: None
Dim: 6.18x6.25x3.85

It scores a 0.7 on the HCA. Thanks!!!

Do you have an idealscope image? Without one, I would probably pass just because it scores outside of both GIA and AGS excellent ranges for some reason...maybe because of rounding on GIA's part. Not sure. Never seen that before, hopefully Garry or someone with more knowledge will chime in.

Who is calling it "ideal"? Because GIA doesn't use that term and this doesn't even fall into the excellent category...

Would be better in a pendant but might be ok in a ring.
An in person eval by an expert is the best way to tell.
It depends on what the actual angles are.
Lower isn''t always better on the hca.

The GIA cert lists it as a Very Good cut. It''s a diamond I found on James Allen, so the images aren''t readily available. I will try and get them. Any suggestions on where to look? It was in the $4000 price range. Thanks!!!

If you haven''t already tried the cut quality search you could use that to look for diamonds that meet your criteria (colour clarity etc) and then select excellent - excellent for cut.

I did a quick search - but wasn''t sure what your parameters are as far as colour, clarity and budget - if you post those some people may help you search...

but here is one also from James Allen 0.9ct H VS2 H&A AGS Ideal - $4320 (after pricescope discounts)http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1197107.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131
