Hey there. I didn''t know you''re from Toronto! I was looking on PS for reputable jewelers around Toronto and came across a thread where you mentioned you asked ''PH Designs'' to set an LOGR ring with a CS. I recently bought an umbalite tourmaline (from TL!) and an LOGR setting with prongs, took it to my jeweler in Dundas Square, talked to him for 20 minutes and as I am about to leave he says ''Oh, btw, there is a 90% chance the stone will break and therefore I need you to sign this form so I wouldn''t be liable for any damage''

WHY the heck would you even TRY setting the stone if you know you''ll break it?!!! Anyways, I couldn''t have hurried out of the store any faster.

Soooo, I''m looking for someone reputable around Toronto where I can finally set my tourmaline. I tried googling PH Designs, but didn''t come up with anything. Would so appreciate feedback on whether you would recommend PH and if so, would love to get their contact off you.

Much thanks!

One more thing, Jaz12 used Victor from Rose Jewellery to make her e-ring. Here is an excerpt I saved from Jaz'' reply to one of Beau''s threads:

Jaz12: Beau--I had my e-ring set by Victor at Rose Jewelers. He is in Dundas Square (downtown T.O) he is known for great craftmanship --he is Turkish i believe, learned the family trade and moved to canada. His work space is a mess of tools, materials and ''stuff''--don''t be put off by that if you do go see him, this guy knows his trade and came recommended from a respected PS vendor .
Hope this helps!

ETA: Almost forgot--contact info

Oh nice! Thank you for your help, Blingmyring!

ETA: In my original post, I meant Umbalite Garnet, not Tourmaline. Mush brain.

Oh my word! Yes, there''s always a chance your stone might break while setting, but there should never be a 90% chance for that to happen especially with a garnet which is fairly hard.

Weird.

I know, eh?! I was so furious, told myself it was the last time I''m having them do anything for me. This is after we spoke about the ring for a good 20 minutes and finalized everything. Shouldn''t he just have saved my time and told me that as soon as I pulled the stone+setting out?! Yeah, not impressed

Sorry for the delay! I don''t come to the hangout very often.

I did use P&H to set multiple stones. I have about 8 settings that I am taking to them as soon as I find time :P

I am pleased with the bezel work and prong work they have done. They made nice sharp prongs for me - corrected the horrible work from another Toronto jeweler. They also turned a prong setting into a bezel setting!

P&H will also tell you that there is a chance that the stone might break and they are not liable. Don''t worry though .. the chances of it happening is slim.

I do know which stone you bought! I can''t wait to see you have it set.
